President Obama did not attend the funeral of his late aunt Zeituni Onyango. Instead, he went golfing.
The New York Times reports:
After Zeituni Onyango, the woman President Obama once called Auntie, died in a South Boston nursing home this month, her closest relatives gathered her belongings at her nearby apartment. There, framed photographs of her with the president covered the wall.
Weeping before a polished wood coffin at her wake this past Saturday, they described Ms. Onyango, the half sister of the president’s father, as “the spirit of the Obama family” and talked about raising money to send her body back to Kenya. Mr. Obama helped pay funeral expenses and sent a condolence note, Ms. Onyango’s family members said, but the president did not attend, as he was golfing.
The paper notes that the president has kept his distance from his family:
As president, Mr. Obama has kept his distance from, and even failed to acknowledge, members of this eclectic clan. In the time-honored tradition of eccentric presidential relatives, the assorted Obamas have faced deportation and drunken-driving charges, started Obama-branded foundations and written memoirs.

How odd. I can't seem to find any of the surely front-page news stories about the Bush family's eccentric relatives. The most eccentric member of the Reagan family was Ronald Jr, and his eccentricities were media-loved, media-approved. Where are are the weird stories about Nixon's relatives? Ike's?
He was abandoned by his father by choice, then by his step-father by choice, then by his mother by death.

Oh, Granny was alive to see her good name smeared by her loving grandchild.
A classic symptom of a sociopathic narcissist: Lack of empathy.
I have never known or met my real father and any of his children. If I got a funeral notice on any of them I would simply ignore it. My daughter knows who and where her dad and all her brothers and sisters are. She also has no interest in the fact if they are alive or dead.
Yep sometimes its a good thing.
Does his bro still live in a hut? Rush gets a kick out of that situation.
That should be a poste in every store window in the next two elections.
The man aint human. He’s a cold hearted person with no concept of family or goodness. He would rather save time for a golf club than spend a moment to bid farewell to a relative. I can’t think of any black man who would do this. Family is sacred but not for Obama.
