MOUNTAIN VIEW (KPIX 5) While open enrollment for coverage under the Affordable Care Act is closed, many of the newly insured are finding they cant find doctors, landing them into a state described as medical homelessness.
Rotacare, a free clinic for the uninsured in Mountain View, is dealing with the problem firsthand.
Mirella Nguyen works at the clinic said staffers dutifully helped uninsured clients sign up for Obamacare so they would no longer need the free clinic.
But months later, the clinics former patients are coming back to the clinic begging for help. Theyre coming back to us now and saying I cant find a doctor, said Nguyen.
Thinn Ong was thrilled to qualify for a subsidy on the health care exchange. She is paying $200 a month in premiums. But the single mother of two is asking, what for?
Yeah, I sign it. I got it. But wheres my doctor? Whos my doctor? I dont know, said a frustrated Ong.
Nguyen said the newly insured patients checked the physicians lists they were provided and were told they werent accepting new patients or they did not participate in the plan.
And Nguyen says while the free clinic isnt technically supposed to be treating former patents they signed up for insurance, they cant in good faith turn them away.
Dr. Kevin Grumbach of UCSF called the phenomenon medical homelessness, where patients are caught adrift in a system woefully short of primary care doctors.
Those who cant find a doctor are supposed to lodge a complaint with state regulators, who have been denying the existence of a doctor shortage for months.
Meanwhile, the sick and insured cant get appointments.
What good is coverage if you cant use it? Nguyen said.

Because Obama isn’t your primary care doctor, stupid.
There - fixed it.
“That might have been the plan at first, but like many ganja-fueled plans of the ‘60s and ‘70s ‘activists’ now in power, things are so incredibly screwed up by now that most Americans want the government COMPLETELY out of ‘health care,’ not running the whole show.”
I think Chief Justice Roberts saw this FAIL coming exactly as you say!
“Thats funny until you become a Senior trying to find a Doctor that takes Medicare!”
Roger that!
One of the hallmarks of socialism is as it is imposed, there are nearly instantaneous shortages of valued goods and services.
It never does not happen.
Rationing?
Poor care?
Shortages of supplies and meds?
Long waits?
Death Panels?
These are my worries for me and my family.
.
That $200 a month would pay for a lot of doctors visits and prescriptions.

I wonder what her deductible was? Wait ‘til she finds out (assuming she finds a doctor), that she’s going to have to come out of pocket, maybe for quite a bit of money, for quite a while ... perhaps all year if her bills aren’t significant. As you stated, $200/mo would probably pay for routine care/meds - so the question is how long will she continue to pay those premiums for “nothing”. I think many of these folks will quickly figure out that they’re better off not paying premiums and using that cash for the care they need and they’ll likely be able to find a doctor, too.
What good is a lying jug-eared Marxist?
“The goal of any serious health reform is not to get people “coverage” but ultimately increase access to quality to actual CARE. That means more facilities, not fewer. Obamacare does the exact opposite. Fewer new facilities will be built, existing facilities will not expand or even scale back because of the law.”
And the other thing that serious reform needs to do it to address the overall true cost of providing quality healthcare. In there zeal to get everyone’s private medical records computerized (so they can slice and dice you to see if you are worth treating) they have driven the cost sky-high. Now when we go to the doctor, he/she spends most of the “exam time” pounding away at a laptop instead of trying to find out what’s wrong with one of us. This whole sorry RAT- developed “system” is so ass backward it would be laughable if it weren’t deadly. Our only hope is that it is so bad that no amount of BS rhetoric will be able to cover it’s early collapse.
My wife just had open-heart surgery. The “visiting nurse” tells us that she has to go in after hours on her own nickel to enter “patient data” into their hospital’s new medical records system. She says that it is affecting her ability to provide patient care. There are literally tens of thousands of “codes” to describe in minute detail what they are doing to/for you.
Actually, I think that it will be the norm for both Medicaid and Medicare patients. For most things major, I would have to travel 150 miles to get to a Doctor or Hospital for treatment so it is essentially useless as primary coverage.
If you don’t have supplemental coverage that is accepted by local Doctors, then you are just screwed!
I even have Veterans coverage but of course that is also about 150 miles away so...
For the most part, I’m screwed! Just another side effect of Obamacare...
Happy and hope I don’t get any major sickness...heh.
They didn’t mention that people go to the free clinics because the deductibles are so high that they can’t afford to see a doctor (if they had a doctor).
The liberal solution will be to close the free clinics because, after all, everyone now is required to have Obamacare.
ObamaCare is finally becoming “very popular” just as Nancy “The Ditz” Pelosi had predicted. LOL!
If this does not wake them up over Obama then nothing will.
For the insurance companies. They are raking in the money without providing coverage.
My gosh, this is such a problem all over the country and they just seem to ignore it - and yes the media also ignores the problem. I’m giving up - the media along with this Administration have figured out just how to bamboozle the public (way too many idiots today) so we are lost anyway you go... I give up!
Exactly, FUBAR.
0bunghole actually told everybody what he would do and how it would be if they had had ears to listen. When you hear a sales pitch that promises something that shouldn’t even be a question (”If you like your doctor blah blah blah”) it’s a flashing neon sign to anyone with a brain that says “He’s lying his ass off!.”

I was thinking that the government will start paying for med school that will require classes in abortion and euthanasia.
