U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal might have been thinking just that after a near brush with death during a press conference Friday at the Milford Metro-North station.
Just as Milford Mayor Ben Blake started to say, “safety, as you know, is paramount,” a train came whooshing by the platform, inches from the senator who had his back turned and was partly standing on the yellow line.
The press conference was called after Blumenthal slammed Metro-North Railroad for collecting $552,000 in fines over the past decade for safety violations and defects.

This probably should have been a ‘shoo-in’ for a Darwin Award BUT the ‘damn fool train missed’.
Lets just call it Karma and hope he continues looking for pianos falling from the sky and Coyote (Road Runner) type ‘accidents’ follow him around.
May he turn into “Joe Blftsk” a memorable Al Capp character who always had a dark cloud over his head, even on a bright sunny day.
This Blommingidiotthal character sold himself as a VN Combat Marine and when it was learned he wasn’t, the CT VFW backed him anyway and he beat McMahans wife for the Senate seat....with HELP FROM RNC AND THE GOPe and our ‘old friend’ Karl Rove.
Of course if the train hit him it would have been the trains fault and we would have had to sit through a ‘Heroes Funeral’....

It was found out later the crewman put his foot out to keep the idiots brains away from sharp pieces of metal protruding from said train.

It won’t play for me either, and I’m not going to try and unravel which security program is blocking their video.
We narrowly averted a disaster. Not that anyone decent would have missed Richard Blumenthal, but the crash would have been upsetting to the train engineer.
Did he deploy those rapid reflexes forged in the military and honed to a razor edge in battle in Viet Nam?
