Jesus Christ is my best friend, and my lawyer in the courtroom of God.

At the end : He was asked if he believes Jesus rose from the dead and he said yes. He was asked if he prays to Jesus and made promises that will come true and he said yes.

Are you saying you think its possible he thinks Jesus is all but the Son of God or that he is insincere and dodging? I’m not trying to argue, just asking what you you thinking about it.

Bono is at least an honest leftist, who generally practices what he preaches.

Kind of. I've heard he's pretty good at hiding his income from the tax man. But he was definitely more open-minded about Dubya than most of them.

The greatest power God ever gave to MAN was the power to choose.

When people say, “I didn’t have a choice” .. it’s a lie .. because God gave to every man the very power to make all the decisions needed for his life.

And .. God gave to every MAN .. “a measure of faith” .. which is measure enough to see, understand, and choose Jesus as their Savior.

And .. for what it’s worth .. Bloomberg’s arrogant claim that he has EARNED his entry into heaven. Maybe he should check the Bible for what Jesus said about NO ONE CAN EARN a way into heaven (lest any man should boast) .. it is a gift from God (through Jesus).

He was careful not to allow them to declare him king, because the tribes were not yet united and it would have resulted in his immediate execution; Romans were not eager to have any break-away parts of the kingdom mounting revolution. His warnings to them that he would be killed were undoubtedly that: warnings. “Shut up, you are going to get me killed.” All this tells me is that he knew darn well that uniting factions to mount a revolution is dangerous business.

So, an arrogant, leftist who makes lousy music is a believer?

Not so fast here.It would take me hours to respond to your comment but,for now,I'll just say "it's a whole lot better than what you'll get from 99.5% of those in showbiz today".

And as for lousy music,U2 is far,far from being my favorite group but they did one or two good things.

I did some googling and Bono said this in an interview with Focus on the Family

“And I believe that Jesus was, you know, the Son of God,” Bono said, according to a transcript provided to Religion News Service. “I understand that for some people and we need to … if I could be so bold, need to be really, really respectful to people who find that ridiculous.”

John Dominic Crossan of the Jesus Seminar has also pushed that line. Of course the Jesus Seminar folks also don't believe Jesus performed any miracles or that he rose from the dead.

Well, it's the most logical explanation. Most of what was written in the New Testament came after he died, and his followers were undoubtedly trying to make sense of it all. After all, he said his kingdom would come to be during their lifetime. But it didn't. So, you either accept that the person you devoted your life to was killed before he could accomplish his goal, or you posit that in some mystical way, he succeeded and his goal is going to be accomplished... very soon. One way you still have hope and you don't feel like your life was wasted and his was destroyed and nullified. The other... well... depressing.

“So, an arrogant, leftist who makes lousy music is a believer?

Ok.”

Like it or not many people are influenced by these types. So if his beliefs will help just one person come to Christ; that’s a great thing.

Kind of. I've heard he's pretty good at hiding his income from the tax man.

I can't claim to be an expert on the subject but I've read that Ireland is unique among Western and Central European countries when it comes to tax policy...more lenient, less punitive, lower tax rates, than most. And he *is* an Irish citizen. So his "tax avoidance" (I know that's not exactly what you claimed) might not be any more repugnant than is my driving up the road to New Hampshire (which has no sales tax) to buy a laptop rather than pay a confiscatory sales tax here in Massachusetts.

No, he told the disciples He would die. When Peter took exception to that (like you Peter was expecting a worldly kingdom) Jesus recognized Satan's ideas working through Peter.

Jesus' kingdom is far superior to any on earth. The real kingdom is a perfect one...not of this world.

No, I mean I read that much of U2’s assets are registered in yet another country for purposes of tax avoidance. He once admitted openly that he was a “champagne socialist,” and he is very disarming about admitting his own faults. Rather like Noam Chomsky, he talks about a better world and then candidly admits he doesn’t deserve one. It’s an effective approach, apparently. I don’t even dislike him, personally. I think he’s a great musician, and interesting man, as sincere as his appetites will let him be, and more open-minded than our home-grown liberals. Nevertheless, I think he is misguided, and a wee bit hypocritical.

Lord, Liar, or Lunatic. Jesus was one of these. (I go with the former)

"The Irish still don’t consider themselves to be British?"

Ireland is not part of Britain. It's not even part of the United Kingdom, except for Northern Ireland. Ireland is an independent nation.

I suspect those twists were made up after he died. No one knows what he really said to anyone. All we can gather is that he probably did really exist, and if the records are accurate, he traveled about Israel and spoke to the Jewish people on getting along with one another and returning to the covenant. He was thought to be the messiah of the Old Testament (whose job was indeed to create the kingdom of Israel) and he denied it, but there had to be a reason people assumed it, even down to the soldiers who crucified him.

The most logical conclusion is that he was indeed one of the many men who thought he was capable of united those 12 tribes. Like all the others, he failed. UNLIKE the others, however, he had well-educated followers whose stories were picked up years later by the emperor Constantine... and the rest is history.

It is quite refreshing to see a Pop star articulate his Christian beliefs in such a proper manner. IMO his description of Christ is quite appropriate to boot.

"I suspect those twists were made up after he died. No one knows what he really said to anyone."

Since He went back up to sit at the right hand of the Father, people have tried to disprove He was God in the flesh. You're just another in a long, long line, and you, like all those others, will never be able to do it.

He is risen!

why the Romans put “King of the Jews” on his cross,

The head Roman said he found no fault in Him and literally washed his hands of the whole business.
