Amid raucous debate, Nevada Republican Party conventioneers on Saturday stripped opposition to gay marriage and abortion from the party platform and endorsed Gov. Brian Sandoval for governor in the June 10 primary despite misgivings by conservatives, his criticism of the process and his absence from the meeting.
The convention also backed Sue Lowden for lieutenant governor over state Sen. Mark Hutchison, R-Las Vegas, who was endorsed by Sandoval and who also spurned the partys move to endorse candidates before the primary.
A nominating committee proposed more than three dozen pre-primary endorsements, although the panel decided against recommending anybody in the gubernatorial race, including Sandoval. The governor was still able to be endorsed by delegates, who cast secret ballots on each race whether or not a recommendation was made.

Robert Zubin and National Review approved.
One more REASON why we SHOULD NOT have the national convention in Las Vegas!!!
Congrats Nevadans.
The Combine GOP has officially come to your state.
I think the ‘V’ TV series was about this. Reptiles all.
Republicrats are finished— we wont even win the house if this keeps up. 10 million will STAY HOME.
Why should I should vote for a party that has thrown in the towel on the cultural wars?
You don’t see the Democrats surrender their principles but the GOP thinks dropping its principles will appeal to the “moderates.”
Let’s how that works out in November.
As a life long supporter of the GOP, they are beginning to, no, they are turning me off. What is the difference between the GOP platform and the Dems.? Nothing.
Despite all the opposition, it is time for a third party.
Just like World Vision , we know where you really stand now -I refuse to be fooled by the backtracking
GOP vs Dems = Race To The Bottom!
Correction:
GOPe vs Dems = Race To The Bottom!
I think both parties are at rock bottom now.
If the GOP in my state did anything like this, I can unequivocally guarantee that I would thenceforth refuse to give any GOP candidate on the ballot in my state my vote.
It becomes more and more clear that the GOP-e WANTS conservatives to leave them. They WANT electoral failure. They wear it as a badge of honor if it means conservatives rebuke them. Again, it becomes more and more clear that the GOP-e HATES conservatives more than they WANT to win elections.
These are the treacherous bastages who gave us Harry Reid for the second time over a Conservative.
The Republican Party in Nevada is led by a den of vipers and back stabbers. Would not be surprised if they weren’t actually Democrats.
“Nevada Republican Party conventioneers on Saturday stripped opposition to gay marriage and abortion from the party platform”
Does that mean they’ve officially endorsed homosexuality and abortions or does it mean that they have no “official” position on these issues? Either way, it provides more proof for my contention that abortions and homosexuality are both anti-life and essentially go together.
Looks like they are Californicating themselves nicely.
Sue Lowden is the better candidate imo. Hutchison thinks driving cards make illegals drive better while increasing wait times for lawful people.
Have they endorsed legalized prostitution as well? That’s already legal in Nevada.
Uniparty Ping.
Progressives voting for progressives.
Why should I vote for them?
The present and future of the GOP, if conservatives dont act.
Mitt Romney
CBS interview, August 27, 2012.
PELLEY: Well, the platform as written at this convention for the Republicans does not allow for exceptions on abortion with regard to the health of the mother or rape or incest. Is that where you are?
ROMNEY: No. My position has been clear throughout this campaign. Im in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother.”
Rand Paul-2014, Presidential candidate for 2016
I think that the Republican Party, in order to get bigger, will have to agree to disagree on social issues, Paul advised. The Republican Party is not going to give up on having quite a few people who do believe in traditional marriage. But the Republican Party also has to find a place for young people and others who dont want to be festooned by those issues.
