I’m ignorant of the laws in this area. But, just wondering, if a deceased person owes money, doesn’t a claim have to be filed against the estate of that person?
It seems odd to me that someone decided that the adult children were somehow legally responsible to pay back these overpayments.
Based on the one article I saw about some old lady who was a low salary teacher or something like that getting ripped off from her refund because of her momma’s SSI stuff back when.
I got to thinking about that and I started to think about exactly how do you get a near $4000 refund when you’ve always been low paid? They certainly weren’t over withholding. What I concluded is that there is another reason. EITC.
