We are a family of six – two parents and four children – who, because of a rough year in 2013, had to apply for subsidized healthcare coverage under the new Obamacare rules. Yes, count us among the 7.1 million that Kathleen Sebelius is currently claiming are active Obamacare signups. We live in Orange County, Southern California, so our coverage comes through the state exchange, Covered California ...

Wow you are right about the kids: Family of 4 with $60,000/year income:

“Good news! Based on your income, the children in your household may qualify for Medi-Cal! The adults in your household may qualify for help with paying for health insurance through Covered California. Now, let’s take a look at the health insurance plans that may be available in your area!”

At $75,000 the kids don’t have Medi-Cal.

New York is mostly rural, too. Doesn’t mean it isn’t dominated by Democrats.
Looking over the fence at the neighbors while your house is burning?

California used to be conservative (ever hear of our former Governor Ronald Reagan for example?)

California went to hell when leftist dimwits from your east coast moved out here for subsidized (AKA free) education, good jobs/careers and excellent weather.

Our political woes were imported from places like NY and the east coast in general.

No, I’d be there in person to take care of business.

That was 40 years ago...

It’s not 1970 anymore.

I moved to NC from PA when I was 11 years old. In 1978.

No, I don’t remember Reagan running California. Too young.

Who did the family in the article vote for in the last few elections?

We are a solid Republican family. I was trying to not make that obvious in the story but there are hints.

Another one of Obama’s war on the “rich” suburbanite’s and his plan to meld the suburbs with the inner cities.

“FR is California based.”

If FR was detroit based, would that mean detroit is a paradise?

Who did the family in the article vote for in the last few elections?

The last conservative who ran for governor here in a regular election was Bill Simon in 2002. He would have won but for the CAGOP sabotaging his campaign. The last conservative to run for governor was in the recall of 2003. The number one guy in the polls was conservative Tom McClintock, UNTIL the CAGOP put up Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yet a Gallup poll showed that McClintock would have won had everyone voted their preferred candidate rather than falling for the RINO swan song, "He can win." Even in 2008, the State upheld traditional marriage.

IOW, it's not what you think. So STFU until you know what you are talking about.

“If FR was detroit based, would that mean detroit is a paradise?”

That is a pretty dumb question since I never claimed that
California is a paradise. The truth is that tons of conservative
Californians visit FR and we don’t find it very damnned useful
for fellow conservatives around the country to lump us in with
the crazies who currently run this place.

I don’t think what you think I think.

I don’t want to hear complaints about Obamacare from people who voted for Obama, and who would likely vote for him again if they could.

Perhaps the family in the story didn’t vote for Obama? Odds are they did, given the last two election results.

Perhaps I shouldn’t complain anymore? Maybe election consequences are unimportant?

At any rate, I’m tired of the subject.

Obamacare is an entitlement program, and entitlement programs never go away.
