There's a show on the FX Channel called "The Americans". It's set in the early '80s. Two KGB agents pose as your average suburban American couple with two kids. An FBI agent just happens to move in across the street and so ensues a number of close encounters that require the KGB agents to lie their way through. The tension is palpable but the agents lie so smoothly, the FBI guy buys it time after time.
Now I'm not saying Jay Carney and Claire Shipman are KBG agents.
But then, the KGB is not called the KBG anymore is it?
Parental guidance alert: Extremely strong language and sexual situations. Stuff I didn't know you could say or show on non-pay cable channels.

When I was growing up in the Maryland suburbs, in the 70s, there were more than a few families with Russian names. Certainly there were those families that all-American and were spies, but I wonder how many others were hiding in plain site?

Funnily enough, I posted this one last night on a different thread. Have not cared much for the series. The frequent references to "Reagan is insanely escalating the Cold War" have left me, well, cold.
I was surprised to discover that Carney feels the need to pretend to be straight in this day and age...

We haven’t missed one episode. Let’s face it, the FBI guy is a moron. And he’s counter-intelligence? Reagan is president, not Obama.
We are both amazed how the Soviet ability to feed, heat and clothe their masses is wanting while they have the most amazing wigs and makeup! lol
But they haven’t figured out how to use different vehicles yet? No one has seen the car?
