DEA raids woman`s Shorewood home after she shops at garden center

Posted: Apr 12, 2014 CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A woman in the southwest suburbs says she woke up to find armed DEA agents pointing guns at her -- all because she shopped at a hydroponic garden center.

Angela Kirkling was driven out of her bed in Shorewood at gunpoint. The DEA had started investigating her because she had made a purchase at a hydroponics shop.

Agents say they thought she was growing pot indoors. Police had also been digging through her garbage and tracking her electrical bill.

No knock searches go way back. They have nothing to do with the current administration. They have nothing to do with Rinos or Dinos or any day to day politics. They did set the table for this administration to abuse power more than any other.

But if you did not object to the courts allowing no knock searches when they were impacting others, you missed the boat and not it is harder to get back our freedoms.

Hydroponics is a great way to grow vegetables or tomatoes etc indoors in water and with fish. Either Coy fish or edible fish. All one needs is a brief education on how to maintain the balance, and feed the fish, and they fertilize the roots and you get good stuff. Must be a violation of the Food Safety ACT of 2010...food terrorism?

How weird of those idiots in the DEA, with Hydroponics growers there is the need for a search warrant...BLM, DEA, FBI, CIA all seem to need to attend the re education camps for the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Unbelievaable!

Who cares if society has been and continues to be destroyed by drug use?..The drug user, himself? It’s called “culling the useless”. Look back in history. Your argument is the EXACT same that led us to Prohibition. How’d that work out? And I WAS a drug cop for eight years until I realized it was shoveling shit against the tide and making the government rich.

“Unbelievable”

I would say that too except someone would post “I think that word does not mean what you think it means” LOL!

How many times a day do we say Unbelievable? It never ends.

LOL Misdemeanor Charges...for what? Growing Vegetable and Coy or Edible fish? Hydroponics is also a great gardening plan to use inside and have fresh food and fish.

So smell = evidence, AND no smell = evidence. I’d call them morons, but that would be insulting to innocent morons.

You’re all over the place with your thoughts.

Anger and frustration are the major messages coming from you, nothing really coherent.

The government doesn’t know its left a$$ cheek from the right a$$ cheek.
How many states have legalized pot? Is it wrong or right?

(it’s wrong, even if all 57 states legalize it.)

Drug use hasn’t done society any favors, but the collateral damage from the drug war has been far broader and deeper. There IS no reason good enough to allow government to think our civil rights are of no consequence, especially when half the people who suffer are innocent, even if this one was not. If they can’t fight the drug war within the constraints of the Constitution, then they need to figure out another way, turn the fight over to someone smarter, or declare defeat. The Founding Fathers I’m sure foresaw that problems would need attending to, the BOR STILL applies even when trying to solve real, legitimate problems.

The warrant could NOT have been valid just because she bought some hydroponics or auquaponics growing items, those are used for gardening.... growing without soil or with water for vegetables and fish too. Without evidence of MJ growth that warrant is unconstitutional and basically unlawful.

Lately, I have observed a complete disregard for the law when arresting someone and in the getting of warrants. My state has a problem with officers being uneducated and idiotic in that same area. So maybe our colleges and BLET training has become inadequate for the job.

I think the training camps should be used to re educate the law enforcement personnel who are doing stupid things that are not according to the laws passed or the Constitution’s Bill of Rights at both local, state, and federal levels...some of these people watch too much TV.

The drug warriors support this sort of activity by the feds.

And a lot of them here are up in arms over the Bundy situation. Amazing how they can't connect the dots.

I am guessing that the DEA will not be holding it’s annual convention in Denver anymore.

Serious cutbacks are called for.

“It’s perfectly legitimate for local sheriffs not to enforce ridiculous gun laws but not for the A.G. to do the same to things he feels are wrong.”

We’re not even talking comparable issues when it comes to Holder.
Local sheriffs choosing not to harass people over blatantly Unconstitutional issues is doing harm to no one.
Holder, on the other hand is intentionally interfering with the enforcement of immigration laws, withholding evidence of prior criminal activity to prevent sentencing based on the unfairness that “his people” are disproportionately affected, and a whole host of other abuses of power based on what he feels is “just” rather than what the law requires. There are real victims of his lawlessness.

Aqua and hydroponics are soil less methods to grow vegetables in or outdoors, and fish in water that sustains fertilization by the fish.

My God how ignorant are these DEA agents if they do not understand that. Every prepper here should know the alternative methods of indoor food growing for tomatoes, lettuce, onions etc. for proper nutrition.

The warrant should not be issued without probable cause and without actual MJ being known to have been on the property, that’s not a valid warrant...it’s just growing items or parts.

If the fish tank items are probable cause as growing paraphernalia for MJ, then every older man who smokes a pipe is in real danger of having his door knocked down like this woman.

Maybe they are practicing for the Food Safety Act Enforcement.

Not sure about that, that the collateral is broader and deeper.

“...tracking her electrical bill.”

I’m worried about that. We run bitcoin miners here (that weren’t available last year) and our electric is 10 times what is was last year at this time. Do I expect a visit from the feds >!?

I’ve considered getting a hydroponics setup so I could have decent tomatoes in Winter, but thoughts of this sort of nonsense have helped keep me from acting on it.
