DEA raids woman`s Shorewood home after she shops at garden center
Posted: Apr 12, 2014 CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
A woman in the southwest suburbs says she woke up to find armed DEA agents pointing guns at her -- all because she shopped at a hydroponic garden center.
Angela Kirkling was driven out of her bed in Shorewood at gunpoint. The DEA had started investigating her because she had made a purchase at a hydroponics shop.
Agents say they thought she was growing pot indoors. Police had also been digging through her garbage and tracking her electrical bill.

Agreed. It’s insanity. And there are people on this very forum who are okay with it.
smart guys think that you only use hydroponics for dope grows....too bad they nothing about growing your own FOOD
“Incredible waste of taxpayer-paid resources.”
As opposed to...?
“Im shaking my head out of disbelief that anyone would merit so much as a sideways glance for personal possession/growing these days.”
What are laws for or about?
To selectively enforce? The cops can say, well, we don’t believe in enforcing this law, so we don’t.
That’s Obama Holder abuse of power.
So she was a dope head. Cops were on to something.....So? She may be. The warrant was a hell of a lot more illegal than anything they might charge her with. Can you spell misdemeanor against willfully submitting false cause for a warrant to seize property, invading a persons right to liberty?
Smart growers know you compost compost compost!!
“So?”
The nihilist mantra.
So? Who cares if society has been and continues to be destroyed by drug use?
So what?
Yes, that was my point. Anytime they want they can pick a house and “find” bomb making materials. Its just more proof of those home grown terrorists ya know.
The legal drugs kids and young adults are being put on are doing way more harm than pot. Research these mass shootings, every one was a person who has or is currently on that stuff.
Every cop has discretion. It’s a beautiful thing when you don’t get stopped or ticketed for speeding, not using a turn signal, driving in the passing lane. I get what Holder is doing is questionable but the Justice Dept and every cop in America has enjoyed at least some level of discretion. It’s perfectly legitimate for local sheriffs not to enforce ridiculous gun laws but not for the A.G. to do the same to things he feels are wrong. For the record, I cant stand Holder but a little clarity is needed on this issue. Nobody has a problem with discretion until they are doing something you disagree with.
So she will be forced to spend 5-10 thousand on a lawyer to get off Maybe more
Of course, WE are permanently traumatized.
So manly.
I dunno, but it wouldn't surprise me.
A few years back, they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to nab a retiree over 2 small dried-up plants in his basement.
Because he bought a growlight from a magazine ad, they sifted his trash for over a year, had cameras watching his house, did flyovers looking for heat signatures. They used every thing in their arsenal just to put a 68 yo man with back pain on probation
According to the FDA, legal drugs kill and harm more people in this country than all of the illegal drugs combined.
Throwing people in jail and ruining their employment opportunities is not solving the drug war and it’s definitely not fixing addiction. When there are legal, regulated substances, that do more social harm than those that are banned, well that is just plain stupidity and hypocrisy. America’s greatest generation lived in a time without the drug war and most illegal drugs today were not regulated. They seemed to come out okay, even being raised to epic status amongst many of the old timers around here. America’s greatest generation were such dopers and so high they ruined it for every one else.
Frivolous/absurd laws should not be enforced and should be repealed regardless of who is in power. Like the “Can’t” park on a downtown city street in my town on Sunday”. And prohibition.
