The Soviet posters were pasted in just like the finger, the books, and the “Soccer Rules” written on the Jinga tower. They’re trying to bait conservatives into freaking out over these obviously bogus things in order to 1) have a good laugh at our expense, 2) discredit birthers and more generally anyone who’s concerned about creeping socialism, 3) get their base fired up by reminding them of what they hate about us. What disgusts me about this is that Carney apparently participated in this little setup. But I’m not surprised since the Dems know that their base is motivated by instances of what they consider to be hysterical right-wing paranoia. I doubt it’s coincidental that Obama brought up his birth certificate in an appearance the other day. We’re heading into an election season and they know this stuff stokes their base.

I don’t think they were photoshopped. Carney and Shipman met in Moscow. I am sure they regard the posters sentimentally—sort of like “our song”—”the song they were playing the first time we danced.”
