This was one of the shocking things that I learned 40 years ago.
Because of the media, I had come to believe that corporations were conservative and capitalist and pro-business, but during the Nixon administration, I learned that they are against much of what I believed in.
The giants soon learned that government interference and affirmative action, regulation, etc. was protecting them as giants, and burning the ladder behind them to kill the smaller competitors and keep out competition.

There is in fact also a revolving door between big business & big government.

DeMint on-target as always. He was born too late...

I saw a documentary on The Smithsonian Channel about ketchup and it noted H.J. Heinz supported the idea of a Food Act to regulate ketchup and other food products because it would put many of his competitors out of business.

sorry, research; like the Northrop xB-47 vs Convair x B-36, purely political..
the xB-47 was a far superior design, Cold War fears/$$$$ killed xB-47.

And by extension, Steve Forbes was right. Yes his Flat Tax idea was the political equivalent of your daily fish pill. However, the Corporatist as Mark Levin calls them divine a lot of their power and edges via the Tax Code and or Ear Marks etc. Neuter the Tax Code via ultra-simplification and see if K-Street just dries up and goes away. IMHO maybe even Gay Marriage would have never been an issue if the code was more neutral, a long story behind that comment that involves a chance meeting with an originator of the Hawaii effort in the late 90’s that led me to that conclusion.

DeMint could be someone constitutional conservatives would accept if the ptb are hell-bent in not winning with Cruz.
Why? We win with a candidate who can articulate what constitutional conservatives want for the US. That can only be with someone who believes it themselves.

I have had this conversation with Libs. They hate big business but when I ask “isn’t big government dangerous too.” They respond that with big government they can vote. I say “they voted in the soviet union also”
But they don’t have a thinking camp.................
To: PeterPrinciple
Thinking Cap.
I was issued mine in grade school but I don’t think they do that any more.
