Chick-fil-A is finally crossing the road.
The iconic chicken chain, as well-known for its conservative heritage as its savory eats, is recalibrating its moral and culinary compass. It wants to go from old school to almost cool. It wants to evolve from a place where gays once picketed to a place where they'll feel comfortable going to eat. It wants to broaden the brand as it expands nationally and plows into the Millennial-driven urban arena. Above all: it wants to be a serious player on fast-food's biggest stage.
USA TODAY was exclusively invited inside to visit the company's sprawling, wooded campus, get the first look at its new test kitchen, tour its store-of-the-future development facility and interview Chick-fil-A's controversial CEO Dan Cathy. Cathy, whose comments condemning gay marriage in 2012 set off store picketing and a social media firestorm, has now fully backed away from such public pronouncements that mix personal opinion on social issues with corporate policy.
"All of us become more wise as time goes by," he says, apologetically, in a rare, one-hour sit-down interview. "We sincerely care about all people."
(snip)
Chick-fil-A's socially conservative agenda, which formally led the company to donate millions to charitable groups opposed to gay marriage, has been tempered. This, just as the company aims to quickly expand into Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. Southern hospitality must give way to urban reality as the 1,800 store chain moves to compete with big city success stories like McDonald's, Panera Bread and Chipotle.
If nothing else, Cathy has listened. In 2012, Cathy not only heard from some unhappy consumers about his comments against gay marriage, but also from some store operators and employees. Now, he says, "I'm going to leave it to politicians and others to discuss social issues."

You need rest.
Let me guess, you watched the Noah movie and while it wasn’t biblically accurate, you still respect and admire Russell Crowes acting. I’m not questioning if you compromise, but how much you are willing to compromise. Very intriguing to say the least.
One wonders who wins...
You need a LOT of rest.
Why do we continue to believe or buy into the SPIN that liberal media outlets put on their stories?
He has. And its time for him to come back. His last post was Christmas of 2012 wishing JR a Merry Christmas. Then ..... nothing.
Now? I’ve taken over his pinglist of the Moral Absolutes list and am not doing a good job of it. And no one could make correct moral and social arguments with concise facts and logic like Wagglebee.
Perhhaps he got too tired of the liberal leftistsm that has infected this place.
Guess you can’t serve God and Mammon in the fried chicken bidness ...
BINGO, this is my exact thoughts on this as well. Thanks for posting that.
Well, sadly, some people — even when SHOWN — still buy the Propaganda Ministry’s spin on things.
So “Pastor Scott” is boycotting? Standing out there with the queers?
Talk about punching yourself in the face....
Is it a full moon or what?
read post #78 and get back to me. I agree with the content of that link provided by Scott Lively Ministries, do you?
Somethin’. I dunno what’s up with some of these folk. I guess ‘useful idiots’ are on our side, too.
Because I am sure the guy writing the article wasn’t going to let it go, he’s the one interviewing him.
Do you know the context the interview was agreed to? Ever see Roger and Me? Press lie all the time to get interviews, about the reasons for them etc etc etc. They spoke for an hour, yet in the article there are no more than 10 or 20 direct quotes from Dan Cathy in the article, do you think those were the only things he said in a 60 minute interview?
Nearly 1/3 of the article is providing backstory about his comments that caused the ruffle, and quotes from folks who disagreed with him, you have to go about half way down the article before you really get any quotes from Dan Cathy himself. Other than this:
“All of us become more wise as time goes by,” he says, apologetically, in a rare, one-hour sit-down interview. “We sincerely care about all people.”
Which again, there is nothing in what he says that is aplogetic, that’s editorial by the reporter.
You are looking for a reason to be offended and there isn’t any. Go READ WHAT HE ACTUALLY SAID... its no different than anything he’s said in the past, the only difference is the editorialization around it.
Go read exactly what he said, not all the hogwash around it, just what he is quoted as saying, and then take into context how those statements are being presented by the reporter, you’ll see what he has said is nothing different than he has ever said.. The only thing he’s stated that’s new is that he’ll be wiser about when he speaks his opinion, not in any way has he apologize for his opinion, or state that he has changed it.
Anything that implies this, is purely editorial content provided by the reporter/editor, not by the words of Dan Cathy.
This is pure propaganda, and the fact you and others can’t see it, is beyond disturbing. If folks are so media unsavvy as to believe that Dan Cathy has changed his beliefs around homosexuality based on this article, then there is no hope for this country.
The adverb “apologetically” is an interpretative word inserted by the fake journalist to put a color on Mr. Cathy’s words. The question is this: do you trust the journalist?
I do not.
Get that rest, yet?
THAT is an excellent graphic. I am surprised I have never seen it before! Thanks for posting!
Caved to the Gaystapo’s speech police, just as have many companies. Say anything about pickle sniffers / carpet munchers in private or public and allow word to get back to the libs who run most HR departments, you are toast.
You are welcome, sir. I put it in my photobucket, I liked it so much.
Excellent. We have an HTML Sandbox on this site, which allows folks to learn. It seems we need another sandbox devoted to critical analysis and logic.
Thanks for your post.
