A date and cabin locations have finally been chosen.
This years shoot will be October 18th. Once again it will be held in Seagoville, (5 miles south of Route 175 or 3.5 miles NE of I-45 (exit 270) on S. Belt Line Road). The plan at this time is to meet at Cotton Gin in Crandle for breakfast at 9:00 a.m., BUT they are currently closed due to a fire. Hopefully they will be reopened by October. If not, Plan B will be put in place. After breakfast we will all head to the range. A delicious lunch will be provided at the range by our wonderful FRiend cpdiii.
The cabins where we are staying are Miller Creek Ranch in Canton, TX. There is a map of the place Here
A block of cabins have been reserved under the name TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot. To reserve your cabin, call 866-488-6020 or 903-567-6020 They are reserved for Thursday the 16th through Sunday the 19th. Please let them know if you will arrive Thursday or Friday night. A $125.00 deposit is due at the time you make your reservation, with the balance due when you check in.
The cut off date for making your reservation is May 28th! Make reservations after that date at the risk of not getting a cabin.
The cabin numbers reserved for us are 10, 22, 24, 25, 77, 88, 89, 90, 92 and 102. #s 22, 24, and 25 are called Executive Cabins with lofts, they are $185.00/night and sleep 4-6 people; #s 10, 88, 89, 90 and 102 are Standard Cabins with lofts, they are $165.00/night and sleep up to 4 people; # 92 is a Standard Cabin without a loft and # 77 is handicapped accessible, those are both $150.00/night and sleep up to four. All the lofts, with the exception of #22, are only three feet high and each have two twin mattresses; the loft in #22 is five feet tall. Each cabin has a queen size bed and a queen size sleeper sofa.
No cars are allowed at the cabins, with the exception of the handicapped cabin. You can either use their concierge service to get to and from the cabins or rent a golf cart for $40.00/day. If you want to rent a golf cart it was suggested that you reserve one when making your reservation.
Extra cost included are a $5.00 resort fee (they normally charge this per day, but are only charging us a one time fee); Internet fee is $5.00/day.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in October!
Thanks. You can take that as a “Barring death, we will be there!”
Question ... Want to be certain am understanding this information ... Cannot bring my own firearms?
I think it means in the cabins, not in vehicles.
I never offload the long ones anyway.
Still, good question.
Thanks humble for the response. I’ll wait on NYTexan’s response also. If cannot bring mine, I’ll make adjustments as necessary. Maybe there are rentals at the range? My wife and I certainly hope to be there for this gathering of FReepers. I don’t want to break any rules regarding bringing firearms, so will adjust as is necessary.
Oh, no no no.
There is no prohibition about bringing any weapons to the shoot.
Insofar as this suggestion by the cabin owner extends, this means
basically no open carry or weapons storage within the cabins.
There are likely 1700 lbs worth of assorted weaponry being brought to this event.
To clear up the “no firearms on property” worry.
Somewhere in there rules & regs it states that no firearms are allowed on the property. What this means is “one shall not brandish said firearms”.
It is perfectly ok to bring your guns into the resort, as long as they only go from your vehicle to the cabin, and visa versa.
Hope this clears up any confusion.
I believe they just don’t want to “SEE” any guns outside of their cases.
Prolly best to just leave the long guns in the car.
Show and tell inside the cabins with the curtains closed is prolly ok too...
10-4. Am looking to bring two, maybe three of mine. The third one may not bring though. Much appreciation humble. Now all I have to do is get busy with a booking, packing and a conversation with the wife to be certain we are on go. Conversation with wife will be first ... she hit me otherwise and I don’t want to show up bruised and battered.
Thank You ... makes clear. My appreciation.
Glad that be cleared up.
No, we ain’t throwing a shoot where nobody can bring any guns.
We might be ate-up, but.. honestly.
Laz, KC_Lion, and I have reserved Cabin 88, arriving Thursday. We have room for one more FReeper.

LOL ... me be on the dumb side most of the time but I hate breaking rules.
Everything we have but the rifles and shotgun has an individual case, and we’re not leaving
anything in the car if said car is not where we can keep an eye on it.
We will probably prepare for moving the ordnance to the cabin by getting cases or at least
heavy bags for the long guns so that no one’s sensitivities are molested by seeing (OMG
OMG OMG) a gun!!!
My Henry Mare’s Leg has a holster, but it can be bagged as well.
I wouldn’t worry about it in the least.
True story.
On shopping list for tomorrow: new mouse.
Another reason we hope to be running our own concierge service.
Those double posts are a bit annoying, more for you than for me,
and if getting a new mouse will solve the problem, good on you.
[smiles]
I simply cannot wait to meet you and Mrs. Illegals.
We rented a golf cart, so we can help with that too.
