Godspeed Mickey!
Now I’ll never hear the Animaniacs’ song in the same way again....
It’s a great big universe
And we’re all really puny
We’re just tiny little specks
About the size of Mickey Rooney
RIP
Yeah but Mickey made us laugh, Andy made us..............
He would make us laugh, he would make us cry.
Cranky?
He was in bad shape. His ninth or tenth wife had him doing local cable TV commercials which she starred in while he walked back and forth wordlessly in the background. It was disturbing and sad to watch.
He was married - for a time - to Ava Gardner - felt by many to be the most beautiful woman ever. For that alone, I salute Mr. Rooney!
RIP.
He had a long and fruitful career.
RIP.
RIP
And also immortalized by Ray Davies and the Kinks in the song “Celluloid Heroes”:
If you covered him with garbage
George Sanders would still have style
And if you stamped on Mickey Rooney
He would still turn round and smile
But please don’t tread on dearest Marilyn
Cause she’s not very tough
She should have been made of iron or steel
But she was only made of flesh and blood
He had been reported as dead at least 4 times I know of.
If it’s true this time, then I sent prayers for his family, for we’ve lost another great one.
When I think of Mickey, I always think of this scene from “The Human Comedy”, as gut-wrenching a scene as you’ll ever watch, and great acting from him.

RIP Mickey...prayers to his family.
RIP.
See #27
He was awesome with Jackie Gleason in Requiem for a Heavyweight as well.
Truthfully? Those eyebrows just weirded me out, always had trouble concentrating on what he said.
My dad’s got a barn. My mom can make the costumes. Let’s put on a play!
Garland/Rooney. Name any of their teen movies. Hardy.
