The Australian military vessel Ocean Shield, towing a sophisticated pinger locator lent by the U.S. Navy, reported Sunday morning that it had picked up a signal, said Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, who is coordinating search efforts from Perth, Australia.
That report comes on the heels of a Saturday night report from the Chinese ship Haixun 01 that it had detected pulse signals both Friday and Saturday at 37.5 mHz, the same frequency used by an airplane flight data recorder.

I can’t explain why so many skeptics regarding this story. If you’ve been following our political situation maybe that’s connected.
Good on ya, mate! And thanks for serving!

As former military myself, I find your statement 'out there'.
Your loyalty to your government & friends/services is admirable (/s in regards to 'government'), but that statement does no favors to your reply to the comment that was obviously directed at the Malays, not the Aussies. I'm not defending his comment, but to-date, there has been plenty of manipulation of all those involved in this search effort, including sending brave searchers hundreds of miles into dangerous areas of ocean on wild goose chases, now hundreds of miles from this latest signal (in the wrong direction, mind you).
Do you really think anything would have been different under the GW Bush administration? It was not that long ago that the people of Kuala Lumpur conducted a war crimes tribunal that found GW Bush and members of his administration guilty of war crimes. Of course the tribunal found them guilty in absentia as none were present at trial.
“One pinger attached to the U.S. Constitution, the other to the Bill of Rights.”
On the assumption anyone will bother to look?
A loud alarm sounds more appropriate for the Constitution and Bill of Rights....however not enough firefighters to put out this fire I think.
One cannot make a system that runs on aircraft electrical power that doesn’t have an “off” switch (at least a circuit breaker) because of the risk of electrical fire.
Blueplum’s separate, independent backup system may be more workable, but I’m not sure how to power the system - perhaps the emergency bus? Battery power has a tendency to wane on a system that is never used, and therefore be insufficient when the need arises. Latent failure rises to the probability of no longer being latent.
From an aircraft design perspective, the requirements for such a system are difficult.
now all that is needed is a third listener and the spot can be triangulated.
One sonobouy should do the trick. Three would be graeat
Yep.
Well said! I agree as well...this is important for Boeing to hopefully determine that the crash was not due to any engineering/design issues with the aircraft. This is in our national interest.
The corollary to hope n change is deliberative dithering.
Deliberative dithering results in maximizing the number of votes won in the next election. There is no hope and change if the election is not won
Haste might lose votes
But that was in an area where recovery could be done fairly easily. I have doubts that Malaysia is going to recover bodies from an area much more isolated, much deeper, and with very rough seas. More likely they will just recover the box and be done with it.
I’m a former Canadian soldier, I worked for my government for 10 years, did 3 tours and all that good stuff (or not so good).
I also left the infantry after 7 years and went to the airforce to fix aircraft. By the way, 3rd battalion Royal Australian Regiment is my sister unit, I was 2PPCLI.
The evidence piled up spoke loudly to me that this plane was taken for a purpose, not to just go for a dive in the water. Too many things weren’t adding up, and with my own personal experience, I’m not overly trusting (read at all) of the government, any of them.
I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think we should be letting our guard down, Israel has the right idea they’re on high alert and requiring commercial aircraft to identify themselves much sooner.
This is another Osama story, that was a totally made up situation.
LOL! nice one, I should get myself one, lately the world has just been a strange place.
Yes, or they “bury” the body at sea according to moslem tradition. I see a pattern.
It’s all a bunch of kooks. But I doubt even the kooks think the Australians would plant a black box. Malaysia, maybe. But even that is ridiculous.
Any time you have a big mystery or event the kooks come out of the woodwork.
Tech note: The article stated the “Black Box” pinger frequency as 37.5Mh.
Correct frequency is 37.5Kh.
There was a Freeper or two about a week ago who said they wouldn’t be surprised if bodies were planted somewhere out in the ocean for searchers to “find” lol.
I know, right? If I see the phrase “false flag” used one more time, it’ll be too soon. I think FR needs a moratorium on conspiracy theories.
Sorry...but do not place GW Bush in the vein as Barack Hussein Obama!!! If you need to fathom this comment to get the meaning then, IMHO...you are lost at sea, never to return to reality!!!
