Jimmy Carter weighed in on Friday on whether Jonathan Pollard should be released from prison as part of current Middle East peace talks, saying he would support freedom for the spy if the Israelis were to fully accept the deal from Secretary of State John Kerry.
Carter said in an interview that he would agree to the release of Pollard, the U.S. naval intelligence analyst currently serving a life prison sentence after a 1987 conviction for providing classified information to Israel, only if certain conditions were met.
“If the Israelis would agree to accept John Kerry’s proposal, if Pollard was released, I would say yes [to supporting freedom for Pollard],” the former president said. “But I would make it an absolute swap and a certain thing, not just as a factor.”

Jimmy Carter is SO damned obsessed with finishing his life’s major achievement, destroying Israel and killing the remaining Jews... that he would advocate just about ANYTHING to “get the peace (sic) talks going again” (which are designed to strip Israel of its defensively-strategic high ground and border buffer strip)....
It won’t work, Jimmy. Israel lives, and will continue to grow and build.

Why doesn’t America do what they are demanding the Israelis do. Free criminals with no catches.
I don’t understand why Israel would sacrifice its future to get back a convicted mercenary spy. It’s demeaning for our SoS to think they would. Really, has Israel been waiting all this time to make “peace” with the Palis just so they could get Pollard back?
US voters decisively told Jimmy to STFU in the 1980 Presidential election. He still hasn’t gotten the message.
So, let’s review: Carter supports releasing Pollard, Carter hates Israel with every (remaining) fiber of his being, so it’s probably a very bad deal for Israel.
Looked at another way, Kerry’s “plan” for Israel is to commit national suicide, so no, trading one’s existence for a spy is a bad deal.
Sometimes beer really does heal all that ails you.
Pollard gets released in 2015 if he keeps his nose clean. Heard this from the NIS officer who busted him.
