Awful Dreadful Snake (Stanley Brothers), Knoxville Girl (Louvin Brothers) based on old Irish, then English, traditional murder ballad), and “Voice From On High” and “Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem”, both Bill Monroe, Country Gentleman’s version of Fox On The Run”, Stanley Brothers’ “Rank Strangers To Me”, and the New Kentucky Colonels really fast, extended, hard-driving version of “Sally Goodin”-it’s the best driving song ever.
The one and only Hurricane Song, in case this never gets asked, is Leon Everette’s “Hurricane”. I can’t help but think of this song anytime I cross Ponchartrain.
