SPRINGFIELD, IL, April 3, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Bishop Thomas J. Paprocki of Springfield, Illinois, known for his outspoken defense of the right to life and the natural family, has signaled his support for denying Communion to Catholic politicians who publicly endorse activities gravely contrary to the moral law.

(1) Durbin the Turbin is up for re-election
(2) Many people have cried for the Catholic Church to do this.
Since the Bishop has ruled as he has ruled, the Vatican will take no action -- no matter what...
This is good news, even to a heathen like me !
BTTT
Instead of taking wine for communion, I think that Durbin would be more comfortable drinking Pepsi as a substitute.

Wow. Just wow.
GOOD!
It is long overdue for the Church to stop speaking with forked tongue ... opposing abortion while continuing to permit all of the wildest, most notorious, anti-life political baby killers to receive the holy Eucharist in an apparently unrepentant status
can’t have it both ways, Fathers....
Now, excommunicate the heretic.
After that would be Pelosi.
You’re right. Either the teachings of the church on the issue of protecting human life in the womb have meaning, or they don’t. If they are to have a real meaning in the life of the Church, they must be observed and honored, especially by public figures who profess their faith in and adherence to the teachings of the Church. You can’t profess that faith and at the same time ignore it in public life. One has to choose which Master they will serve.
Catholic ping!
What if anything did Durbin say when denied communion? My best guess would be,”Don’t you know who I am?”
The article says it’s been in effect for several years and this bishop is just upholding his predecessor’s ruling. This needs more publicity!
Springfield Catholics: Don’t be a Dick.
Finally
Theologically, he’s doing Durbin a favor denying him communion.
Taking communion while in a state of unrepentant sin is a very poor idea.
bkmk
we agree!
the most notorious, visible, public violators of important Church teachings...especially those in positions they’ve used to promote violation of church teachings on a mass scale!...
these most obviously unrepentant people should indeed be denied the Eucharist. ... for the church to be true to itself and its faith in what God teaches...
maybe Pelosi will be next?
YES!!!
The Bishop is a great guy! I’ve played hockey with him numerous times (he plays goalie).
He’s the real deal.
Now, what we need is for this to get broadcast out on the evening news feeds everywhere!
Don’t worry. The Church will get back in bed with the Democrats just as soon as they get their exemption so that the Church gets to keep money in their coffers.
Where was this type of hard-line stance before Obamacare? Nowhere. Why? Because the Church is perfectly comfortable with their congregants supporting abortion in public office, as long as the Church gets to claim with pious fervor that their hands are clean.
