Sarah Palin is weighing in on the shooting that occurred Wednesday at the Fort Hood military base in Texas, tweeting that military personnel should be able to carry firearms.

Prayers for everyone at Ft. Hood. They defend
and protect us. The military must be able to defend
themselves with arms.

Palins comment echoes those of Rep. Mike McCaul who also said members of the military should be able to carry weapons on base.
I personally think, if youre trained for combat, you ought to be able to carry a weapon, the Texas Republican said on Fox Newss The Kelly File on Wednesday following the shooting.....

Sarah got it right. Amen to that. Let the troops carry weapons; afterall, it’s what they are trained to do. The fact that troops cannot carry guns on military bases makes it no different than schools or movie theaters. Just another soft target. But a more desirable one for those who really want to harm us.
It is another fun free zone massacre. And now two at the same place. NOWHERE in this country should you be denied the right to defend yourself. How much more proof to “they” need?
While black is sliming, gay soldiers would demand guns and accessories in other colors. It’s cost prohibitive. /sarc
At minimum, sergeants(E-5) and above should be allowed and encouraged to be armed. If the military doesn’t trust a sergeant to be armed on base, then he shouldn’t be a sergeant.
One Repub, Rep. Michael McCaul of TX, is saying this very thing. None of the rest have done so. Probably waiting to see which way the political winds blow. And yep, THEY are definitely cowards.
Would this count? LOL
Stockman just came out for it.
When I was in the military in the 1960’s, we never carried weapons in the base, only when we went on shooting practice and I was in the infantry and a BAR man. Some of the characters I wouldn’t trust with a load rifle.
If the miltary can’t trust every member who has completed basic training there is a problem.
We had a different crop of characters off the Base too.
You Bet’cha!
Note that I said At minimum, sergeants(E-5) and above should be allowed. As a first step, have them be armed, and see what happens. Then, bring it down to corporals.
In civilian life, we generally don't allow 18 years olds to have CCW. It's 21 and above. By the time somebody has gotten to be a sergeant, he's been in the military for 4 years, and is over 21.
Oh, no, we can't have that, because a) Palin said it, and b) they might shoot the President, these Oathkeepers!
Democrat paranoia started this, and it needs to stop. NOW. Arm our troops on base. It's the only reasonable response to the invasions we are experiencing. Yes, invasions. Multiple.
Since a Specialist 6 counts the same as an E6, then yes.
I once had an acting jack corporal (so actually an E-3) try to tell me to do something. I was rolling around on the floor for a good five minutes.
Meanwhile, Obama doesn't have a problem with being in proximity to Muslims with swords.
I have no problem with officers carrying arms, but I do not think it is a good idea for the enlisted guys in the barracks, where more than a little bit of alcohol is drank. An exception to this would be OD.
I am a concealed carry individual. I do not carry if I drink.
Have you served in the military? The notion of “barracks” such as seen on TV and movies showing Quonset huts or squad bays went the way of the M1 rifle and SOS, except for war zones, where you’re already armed.
