I have devoted most of my life to understanding the principles that enable people to improve their lives. It is those principlesthe principles of a free societythat have shaped my life, my family, our company and America itself.
Unfortunately, the fundamental concepts of dignity, respect, equality before the law and personal freedom are under attack by the nation's own government. That's why, if we want to restore a free society and create greater well-being and opportunity for all Americans, we have no choice but to fight for those principles. I have been doing so for more than 50 years, primarily through educational efforts. It was only in the past decade that I realized the need to also engage in the political process.
<snip>
More than 200 years ago, Thomas Jefferson warned that this could happen. "The natural progress of things," Jefferson wrote, "is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground." He knew that no government could possibly run citizens' lives for the better. The more government tries to control, the greater the disaster, as shown by the current health-care debacle. Collectivists (those who stand for government control of the means of production and how people live their lives) promise heaven but deliver hell. For them, the promised end justifies the means.
Instead of encouraging free and open debate, collectivists strive to discredit and intimidate opponents. They engage in character assassination. (I should know, as the almost daily target of their attacks.) This is the approach that Arthur Schopenhauer described in the 19th century, that Saul Alinsky famously advocated in the 20th, and that so many despots have infamously practiced. Such tactics are the antithesis of what is required for a free societyand a telltale sign that the collectivists do not have good answers.

It really is the government against us, not us against the government, and that is a very telling point.
The citizens aren't attacking the feds. Obammy is sending his government thugs after us. Obammy himself said he wanted to transform America. Well, his actions show us how he wants it "transformed". Third world America, anyone?
The super-rich (to pay for the government leviathan), the super-poor (to be held captive and dependent on government) and no middle class to get in the way. That's the America obammy wants.
Thank God for FreeRepublic. It's the only website I trust.
The MSM has been “shaping” worldview for 50 years and schools have been brainwashing and programming with Skinnerean methodology to destroy Reason and Logic (erasing the Christian Worldview/Age of Reason concepts/Natural Law Theory embedded in USA) from the minds of our children since the 60s.
They are flipping Good and Evil and creating dependent (Happy) slaves for the State.
This Matrix has been in place for decades and technology is such that everything these Communists wanted to do is now completely possible. It is a matter of time before they control every idea your children are allowed to have.
....try “talking” with even 50 and 60 year olds who believe whatever junk they are fed 24/7 on TV, radio and newspapers. There is no intelligence-—no Reason.
A beautiful, well written commentary.
“... the Koch Bros support gay marriage, abortion, and legalizing drugs ...”

Got a link?
Link please.
Yeah, I asked for a link also at reply 25...
so far only crickets chirping...
Quite possible that info could be true. They are libertarians.

Verbatim from the letter published by the WSJ (and proven by historical fact) ....
Far from trying to rig the system, I have spent decades opposing cronyism and all political favors, including mandates, subsidies and protective tariffseven when we benefit from them. I believe that cronyism is nothing more than welfare for the rich and powerful, and should be abolished.
Koch Industries was the only major producer in the ethanol industry to argue for the demise of the ethanol tax credit in 2011. That government handout (which cost taxpayers billions) needlessly drove up food and fuel prices as well as other costs for consumersmany of whom were poor or otherwise disadvantaged. Now the mandate needs to go, so that consumers and the marketplace are the ones who decide the future of ethanol....
Now ... let's discuss 'all this BS' ....
Got a link to where CATO supports abortion or gay marriage?

This is one from here. The article is Politico, so I am not sure. If you check the web, anti abortion groups have hired some Koch attorneys to represent them.
Problem with Kochs are, there is so much out there, the truth is hard to come by.
Well, if true, that definitely puts Koch on the wrong side.
Whoever is hated by Harry Reid is my friend.
If you talk to a libertarian, they aren’t for gay marriage, nor are they against it. Same with abortion. They are basically agnostic on those things because they do not think those subjects have any business with government.
Conservatives are different. They know the left thinks they can be in control and make happen(which they have so far) abortion and the definition of marriage. They are always for whatever takes away responsibility and any moral consequence.
The right thing to do is an all out effort to counter the left point of view. I don’t think libertarians really care about those social issues. By accepting them into the fold, they would not be against our opinion, nor would they be for it. Reagan managed to get the three legged stool on board. How did he do it? Of course, abortion is still not repealed, and probably will not be until the culture is ripped away from the left. We gain ground, but it is slow.
If you’re agnostic you can’t be trusted to defend what’s right. Look up “lukewarm.”
Apparently, libertarians have no interest whatsoever in defending the founding principles.
I agree with that. I was just positing what I have heard from libertarians.
There is a book that is timely for now although it was written long ago. It also has a plan in it. It was written by Taylor Caldwell, one of my favorites, but hard to find. It is called “The Devils Advocate”. She knew what was coming. It has been removed from almost all libraries, the left hated her.
They are not crony capitalists like the greenies sucking down taxpayer money. They are not too-big-to-fail banks colluding with the Fed to destroy our currency. They are simply capitalists and capitalists are generally good for America. I have seen no anti-American tendencies in the Koches.
