Rand Paul says Republicans cannot be ‘party of deportation’
Daily Caller ^ | 4-1-14 | Alex Pappas

WASHINGTON — Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said Tuesday that Republicans need to show Hispanic voters that they are not “just the party of deportation.”

During a symposium at the Newseum on conservative engagement with Hispanic media outlets, Paul also said Republicans have plenty of ideas that appeal to Latinos, but acknowledged, “We got to get beyond deportation to get to the rest of the issues.”

“The bottom line is that the Hispanic community, the Latino community, is not going to hear us until we get beyond that issue. They’re not going to care whether we go to the same church or have the same values or believe in the same kind of future of the country until we get beyond that. So showing up helps. But you got to show up and you got to say something and it’s has to be different than what we’ve been saying.”

[ Reverse the Order.

The eternal libertarian chant, “give me gay marriage, drugs, and open borders today, and I will gladly pay you with the end of welfare and social programs and liberal voters, on Tuesday”.

Tell the libertarians to end welfare and social programs FIRST, then we will listen to their pro-immigration, anti-social conservative arguments. ]

AGREED! it is like leaving the overflowing kitchen sink faucett running while trying to mop up all the water on the floor and expecting the floor to stay dry....

You have GOT to turn the damned Spigot OFF before you start mopping up all the water.....

[ “[T]he Hispanic community, the Latino community, is not going to hear us until we get beyond that issue.”

Rand, the only thing I care about them hearing is “if you’re here illegally, get out now.”

Frankly, I’m starting to get the idea that the modes of transportation we’re using for deportations are too costly. An old enemy of ours used railway cars, and I’m starting to like that...so long as the end of the line is in Mexico, not Poland...

If that idea ever catches on, a lot of them will wish they had got out while they could still drive themselves in their own cars... ]

We should simply adopt and enforce the same draconian immigration laws that MEXICO uses because they are MORE draconian than ours and we can tell the libs we believe in “International Law Standards” because we are so DAMNED tolerant....

[ Is it me or does it seem like Rand Paul is fizzling out as a principled Presidential candidate before the campaign begins.

***
He appears to be trying to make nice with the GOPe. ]

I want to think that him and Ted are playing “good Cop/ bad Cop” with the GOP establishment so that at least ONE of them can make it past the primaries.... But haven’t seen Rand throw any clues that he is actually doing this so....

Libertarians know two things, that they won't be able to accomplish ending welfare and social programs, which is a conservative fight anyway (and always has been), and libertarians do know that their social liberalism is, and always has been a breeze to accomplish, and they advance it each year, and have since the 1960s, they also know that it creates even more democrat voters.

Libertarians know very well how immigrants and dopers, and hookers, and gays, and social liberals vote, and it isn't for conservatism and limited government.

You’re getting silly now that your broken record has been exposed.

Your position is analogous to saying that since most muggings occur on the streets, we must ban going on the streets. It’s childish and illogical.

Most small-l libertarians DO agree to minimize government involvement whether it be bennies or bans.

The eternal libertarian chant is, “give me gay marriage, drugs, and open borders today, and I will gladly pay you with the end of welfare and social programs and liberal voters, on Tuesday”.

HiTech RedNeck, as the pro-immigration libertarian, here you are with your generic libertarian argument:

Your Post 15- “Rand has a theory that if welfare benefits are cut off to the illegale crowd they will depart voluntarily.”

Your Post 19- “Didn’t he say he opposed continuing welfare to the illegale crowd?”

Your Post 34- “I think he does, which is to stop welfare to illegales, but he isn’t very articulate about that.”

Your Post 35- “It could be the party of starving out the illegales.”

Your Post 40- “This is saving welfare for Americans.”

Ah, I advocate going out on the street, and you scream that I’m calling for muggings (which after all mostly happen on the street).

A high school sophomore could see through your “argument.”

I think Rand Paul is pretty clueless. He probably doesn’t deal with many Hispanics or illegals in Kentucky or in DC. He probably deals with some Hispanic consultants who feed him these lines and lies.

If he is going to pander he will at least have to say how many passports and identities illegal aliens are allowed to forge before they get deported.

http://thinkprogress.org/immigration/2014/04/01/3421560/senator-voting-against-says-party-beyond-deportations/
“And before he was elected in 2011, Paul called the federal DREAM Act, which would have permanently stopped deportations for undocumented youths brought to the country as children, the “Washington elitists’ roundabout way of giving amnesty to illegal immigrant students and undermining the rule of law.” In 2010, Paul supported Arizona’s harsh anti-immigration law, advocating for local law enforcement officials to check for legal status, one way that could land undocumented immigrants in the hands of federal immigration officials. In 2011, Paul co-sponsored legislation with Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) that would end the constitutional right to birthright citizenship.”

“I agree. We can’t be the party of deportation because it would require a small-scale military action on the homeland to logisticly and physically transport 12 million illegals across the physical border of the United States.”

President Eisenhower managed to do it.

But then he was a patriot and had a spine, unlike the “just give up” faction that you and Rand Paul belong to.

Flooding the nation with illegals doesn’t have a damn thing to do with ‘goodness’!

Libtardian and God don’t belong in the same sentence, they are closer to being atheists.

Nobody but you can destruct the false presumptions and distortions that you embrace in your head and that will lead you to the hell where you get to be self righteous to all eternity.

Borders never were very zealously guarded. Welfare for all comers regardless of background turned this place into a honey pot. Get rid of the honey pot and you get rid of those who came for it. But that’s too simple.
