WASHINGTON Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said Tuesday that Republicans need to show Hispanic voters that they are not just the party of deportation.
During a symposium at the Newseum on conservative engagement with Hispanic media outlets, Paul also said Republicans have plenty of ideas that appeal to Latinos, but acknowledged, We got to get beyond deportation to get to the rest of the issues.
The bottom line is that the Hispanic community, the Latino community, is not going to hear us until we get beyond that issue. Theyre not going to care whether we go to the same church or have the same values or believe in the same kind of future of the country until we get beyond that. So showing up helps. But you got to show up and you got to say something and its has to be different than what weve been saying.

Rand is in self destruct already! TED CRUZ FOR PRESIDENT!
Unless it’s Hillary! on the Democrat side, in which case the GOP needs a cat in the fight to not look totally silly. Sarah Palin.
Republicans need to show Hispanic voters that they are not
JUST the party of deportation.
That’s a whole lot different than saying “don’t deport illegal aliens”
When has Sen Paul ever said “Don’t ever deport illegal aliens” ???
Isnt it odd that Republicans had no trouble supporting and voting for the liberal Willard who actually DID say “don’t deport illegal aliens” and fought against the AMNESTY Bills..
Willard said “We cant deport them all” so don’t bother trying...
and “We (he and his Democrat buddies) must find a path to citizenship” for the po lil illegal aliens...
Rand has a theory that if welfare benefits are cut off to the illegale crowd they will depart voluntarily.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
During a debate in 2012 Willard boasted the illegal aliens would “self-deport” ...
The Republicans don’t seem to have mocked him about saying that then..
Is it the comment or who says it that’s the problem..
Deportation involves legal proceedings to remove someone who is in the country illegally or meets threshold for deportation. Should have nothing to do with political parties and politics. So do we have laws or not?
He said this:
Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky is endorsing a pathway to citizenship for the nation’s 11 million illegal immigrants. In a speech, the potential 2016 presidential candidate declares, “If you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you.”
Paul’s path to citizenship would come with conditions that could make it long and difficult for illegal immigrants. Chief among these, Congress would have to agree first that progress was being made on border security.
Paul’s speech is peppered with Spanish phrases from his youth in Texas, references to his immigrant grandparents and praise for Latino culture. He says his party must adopt a new face toward Hispanics and says conservatives must be part of it. “Immigration reform will not occur until conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation,” Paul says. “Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport” the millions already here, he says.

Well, that one folded...
Paul is a moron, deport his dumb ass along with the illegals.
If he wants to do something he should round up all his libtardian friends and take them to Mexico with him. They would have plenty of dope to smoke while they test their theories.
Watch out with your claims that you know more than God does.

Immigration
I do not support amnesty, I support legal immigration and recognize that the country has been enriched by those who seek the freedom to make a life for themselves. However, millions of illegal immigrants are crossing our border without our knowledge and causing a clear threat to our national security. I want to work in the Senate to secure our border immediately. In addition, I support the creation of a border fence and increased border patrol capabilities.
Immigrants should meet the current requirements, which should be enforced and updated. I realize that subsidizing something creates more of it, and do not think the taxpayer should be forced to pay for welfare, medical care and other expenses for illegal immigrants. Once the subsidies for illegal immigration are removed, the problem will likely become far less common.
I support local solutions to illegal immigration as protected by the 10th amendment. I support making English the official language of all documents and contracts.
Millions crossing our border without our knowledge constitutes a clear threat to our nation’s security. Instead of closing military bases at home and renting space in Europe, I am open to the construction of bases to protect our border.

Rand, we didn’t import them so we won’t have to deport them. Just turn off the magnet of welfare, medical care, schools, jobs, etc. and they’ll quit coming or come, work and go home like they used to decades ago.
“Watch out with your claims that you know more than God does.”
Er...wut? Are you saying Runt Paul is God? Do you think God has anything to do with libtardian theories?
Doesn’t sound totally insane to me.
See post #50. That basically what he said.
Imho, what a politician has said in the past is more reflective of his beliefs than what he posts on his website.

Read Rand Paul’s WEASEL WORDS. I’ve capitalized the ones which are “GOPe code” for “legalization” (i.e., simply AMNESTY using a different name). Please note that the Chamber of Commerce sycophant/Internationalist Paul Ryan does NOT say anything about deporting the tens of millions of illegal aliens in our midst. Most illegals will SELF DEPORT if hiring of illegals results in VERY LARGE FINES and the government would actually seek out these CRIMINAL members of their local Chamber of Commerce.
And no more catch and released. Make being caught in this country illegally a FELONY which will automatically FOREVER bar the illegal from returning as an illegal. However, illegals who want to turn themselves in and deport themselves should be given (for a VERY limited time) the right to passage to the border of their choice.
Rand Paul is POISON to me and he should be to all FReepers IMHO.
It's amazing to me that Rand Paul can be so tone deaf on this issue. As we said, no need to deport, end the gravy train and they will self deport.
Those who say that nothing can be done should be honest enough to admit they support open borders and make their case for that. Short of that they should be told to STFU.
We have a no-win situation. Why? Because the elites in both parties have been running de facto open borders for years. Suddenly they wake up to the fact we're up to our keisters in illegals? How could that have happened?
I want to hear his plan for controlling the border, now...not at some point in the future, not when we've done something else, etc...and until then he has nothing to say I have any interest in hearing about immigration.
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.[Posted on 03/19/2013 7:04:07 AM PDT by Perdogg]
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...[Posted on 04/21/2013 1:52:42 PM PDT by SoConPubbie]
For those of you who support Rand for President, do you EVER hear Ted Cruz sound so tepid and apologetic? I’m getting tired of this guy already, save for a few issues. Bob
