Effective today, WestJet is changing the way we display our flight schedules, switching from our current system of "a.m." and "p.m." to metric time. For more information visit http://fly.ws/Metric-time.

“Metric Time”?
I just call it military time. It’s pretty common here in Europe. It took me a little while to get used to it, but it’s easy enough.

Yeah, your flight from 1975 has FINALLY arrived.
Unfortunately, your elderly parents died in seats 3A&B in 1993 and you owe the airlines $19.75 a day for storage

From the web site......
How to calculate your flight’s departure in metric time:
Take your departure time in 24-hour time. Represented as HR:MIN.
Multiply the HR by 60.
Add the MIN.
Take the total and divide by 1.44.
(HR x 60) + MIN = X / 1.44 = New metric flight time (in milliminutes)
Sample calculation:
5:42 pm = 17:42
(17 x 60) + 42 = 1062 / 1.44 = 737 milliminutes

They got it slightly wrong. Is really 737 milli Day, not milli Minutes. Other than that it's perfectly sensible.

No, it will be 1945 hours. This is the 24 hour clock the military has been using for decades.

The original design from the time of the French Revolution was to have a decimalized time system. A day would be divided into 10 hours, an hour would be divided into 100 minutes, and a minute would be divided into 100 seconds. Therefore, all time based calculations would be decimal based without the need to go from seconds to hours.
