MH370: New account of cockpit last words
BBC ^ | 3/31/14 | BBC

Malaysian authorities have issued a new version of the last communication between air traffic control and the cockpit of the missing flight MH370.

The last words spoken were "Good night Malaysian three seven zero" - and not "all right, good night" as reported.

The transport ministry said forensic investigations would determine whether the pilot or co-pilot spoke the words.

The plane, carrying 239 people, was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when it disappeared on 8 March.

The plane's last contact took place at 01:19 Malaysian time.

The BBC's transport correspondent Richard Westcott says the new version of the last words is more formal and more in keeping with the way a pilot might usually speak to air traffic control than the wording previously reported.

It is not clear why it has changed or why it has taken the authorities this long to determine this, he says.

That’s what it is! Too much black tea! That’ll do it every time...

Basically, that explanation makes no sense. Was this a “back translation,” as we call it in the business (that is, a translation from the original language to a second language, in this case, Mandarin, and then “back translated” to its original language, which was, presumably, English) or is it simply the transcript of the original English version that was given to the Mandarin translators and was released by them? (English is the international ATC language, so I’m assuming the original was in English.)

If it’s a back-translation from the Mandarin translation, it may differ slightly, but there’s no way they’re going to either (a) mistranslate an entire important line with numbers, because no translator does that; or (b) neglect an important line with numbers. Also, the Chinese rely heavily on machine translation, and the computer is certainly not going to lie.

I’m a professional translator, and sometimes for comprehension purposes, one doesn’t do a word for word translation. But you never leave out or summarize identifying numbers, titles, etc.

In other words, this is a fake-out.

Like a dead whale in the sun.

We have been fed BS by several outlets, apparently to get the subject off of the news, but having the exact opposite effect.

"Either they are incompetent or dishonest."

Can't they be both?

>> “There is no way that the US, China and assorted other governments do not know what happened to this plane.” <<

.
That is obviously true, but I suspect that it is what is happening to the passengers that is causing all the false “news.”

All air traffic control communication is in English, world wide.

And the media just blindly deafly and dumbly accepts it —

How does “Good night Malaysian three seven zero” get mistaken for “All right, Good night”.

How does “Malaysian three seven zero” get mistaken for “All right”. It doesn’t sound anything like it and as far as I know they would have been communicating in English.

What they are also ignoring is that everytime this co-pilot said the words “three seven zero” they were preceded by “This is MH ...”.

This is pure BS trying to cover up the fact that the co-pilot may not have signed off at 1:19 at all, and the last they heard his voice was 1:07.

In other words the fact that they did not get any response for 12 minutes there should have clued them in that there might be a problem.

And we’re supposed to trust them with the Black Boxes???

Next thing you know, there will not even be a flight MH370 which ever existed.

I saw a Twilight Zone like that once.
