Koch Industries has no interest in the Keystone Pipeline; it has not lobbied in favor of the pipeline; if the pipeline is built, Koch will make no use of it to ship oil from Alberta or anywhere else; and construction of Keystone would actually damage Koch’s economic interests by raising the price of midwestern oil that flows to Koch’s Pine Bend refinery.

The whole thing (Democrats + WaPo) appears to be a fishing expedition to extract info on the Koch family businesses for future use by Democrats. I doubt that it has anything to do with the XL Pipeline.

The International Forum on Globalization is a mixed bag of liberals, leftists and hardcore communists. Two of their leaders, Walden Bello and John Cavanagh, have significant histories of affiliations with marxist groups and causes.

Bello has been positively linked to the maoist New Peoples Army in the Philippines, eventhough he is a college professor there. Also arranged the violent WTO (World Trade Organization) protests in Seattle.
Was a writer for the now defunct maoist-funded/oriented US weekly the “Guardian”.

Also a member of the pro-NPA front “Friends of the Filipino People”, among other communist fronts.

Cavanagh has been a major player in the marxist-directed and funded “Institute for Policy Studies”. See the book “Covert Cadre: Inside the Institute for Policy Studies”, S.Steven Powell, 1987 for the details.

IPS was significantly funded by Soviet asset and Communist Party USA member Samuel Rubin (Foundation), whose daughter was one of Hanoi’s top operatives, Cora Weiss (wife of German marxist Peter Weiss, IPS, NLG, CCR, etc).

Cavanagh was a longtime leader of IPS projects.

Some of the other IFG have leftist affiliations mainly through organizations. What is needed is a real breakdown of who these people are and where they came from.

Some interesting things should come out of it.

It is not surprising that the Wash. Post would use IFG materials to smear the Koch Brothers. The Post has been one of the biggest promoter of IPS people/writers in the country and WP writers have participated in IPS media projects and their Washington School.

Once you know the players, you will know what their goals are.

I don't understand how Waxman has any business asking, actually demanding under color of authority, the questions to Koch Industries. Especially considering they're based on a discredited politically motivated newspaper article.
