I think that’s the right call also.

The best funded Republican is rich guy Mike McFadden, a RINO, or so it would seem. Freepers say bad things about him. It appears he’s one of those candidates that tries to be as vague as possible in his positions.

He’s been endorsed by Norm Coleman, Rudy Boschwitz, Vin Weber, and Rob Grams (before he died). I think Ortman is his main competition.

That race should be on the radar. Franken’s numbers are crap even against these second and third tier candidates.

Last poll by SurveyUSA in early March has Franken leading Ortman by 8%, McFadden by 10%, Chris Dahlberg by 8%, and Paubot Jim Abeler by 12%.

Unfortunately, a female Paulbot will have the Independence Party nomination.

My problem with McFadden has been his continuing efforts at avoiding GOP candidate forums and not answering questions from the party activists.

I’ve taken to calling him “The Empty Suit” because so far, that is exactly what he appears to be.

Is McFadden a RINO - ala Susan Collins? Probably not - but when it comes to trying to ID what he stands for, well, that’s a lot harder.

I’m totally OK with Ortman. I’ve donated money to her campaign.

Near as I can tell, he doesn’t appear to be a candidate for the GOP party’s endorsement in June. I believe that he’ll go straight to the primary.
