Democrats' great green hope? Americans only want to vote for marijuana.

Things are not looking too good for Democrats in the upcoming 2014 midterm elections, and a new George Washington University Battleground poll is, on the surface, more bad news.

The respondents were roughly evenly split between Democrats and Republicans, but 64 percent of GOP voters said they are "extremely likely" to vote in November, versus 57 percent of Democrats. President Obama's 44 percent approval rating won't help the Democrats, and a daunting 73 percent said their personal economic situation has stayed the same or gotten worse over the past four years.

But there is one silver lining for Democrats: Marijuana. While 82 percent of respondents disapprove of Congress — with both parties "universally despised," according to Democratic pollster Celinda Lake — 73 percent support medical marijuana in their states, 53 percent back decriminalizing pot, and most importantly, 68 percent said they are more likely to go to the polls if marijuana is on the ballot.

Don’t worry. While they’re more likely to go to the polls, they’re also more likely to be unable to find them.

2008: White Guilt

2010: Conservative revolt!

2012: "War on Women"; Sandra Fluke's vagina

2014: Getting high

2016: "War on Women"; Hillary's vagina

(2010 was an aberration)

Might indeed benefit the Dems.

America has become a nation of dopehead dregs.

Don't confuse news reports with reality. The reporters are nearly all liberals who had their objectivity surgically removed in college, and want to create the perception that just about everyone either smokes pot or wants to.

Then again, lots of Libertarian, Independents, and Conservatives don’t like the heavy hand the War on Drugs grants to the government.

The numbers probably favor dems, but I think more conservatives than they realize might be for this. I’m not a fan of pot, but a lot of conservatives have a libertarian streak.

I think the idea is to get libs out to polls where they normally wouldn’t get out. I hate to say this, but maybe this could be avoided in swing states by passing legislation to legalize BEFORE November.

Well they were pretty successful in 1992 and 1996 with The Dope from Hope.

The Republicans could counter this by campaigning to LOWER TUITIONS. The ‘kids’ would love this but the FAT PIG TEACHERS UNIONS would hate it. Play the students against the Universities.

As an anti legalizer I suggest a compromise of decriminalization.

Better to pay a fine once in a while than to pay a tax every time.

America has become a nation of dopehead dregs.

Actually, it is really welfare dregs. Pot may be a cause or a side effect, but welfare is a bigger problem than pot.

You know, after looking at the real consequences of smoking pot, not the hyperbole most conservatives believe in, the most prevalent way of having pot ruin your life is to get caught selling it.

We can all see the train rumbling down the track, straight at us. If instead of fighting a rear-guard action, we got out in front of the train and just pushed legalization, we might not pick up any voters, but we would certainly disincentivize a block of liberal voters.

Would you rather have legal pot, or more Obama wealth redistribution? I know you don't want either one, but sometimes we have to choose the lesser evil to eliminate the bigger one.

Well, a nation of government-dependents. A nation of dopehead trash. A nation comfortable with socialism. A nation embracing the deviancy of homo marriage.

Adding it all up, there gets to be a point where I can truly say I no longer see the American populace as worth lifting a finger for, nor America itself a republic worth preserving. I’m REALLY close to that point.

They are truly kidding themselves if they think this is going to help this Fall. Those who favor medical pot or even legalization don’t skew nearly as heavily to the Democrats as they think. Dream on, Democrats, dream on!

We just need to set-up taco stands 50 feet from the polling locations.

I personally don't see the problem. A vote for legal marijuana is a vote against the thoroughly discredited and ineffective War on (Some) Drugs & might actually restore a small piece of the Fourth Amendment.
