Timberlake, VA - Sports, sneakers, and short hair; it's what makes eight year old Sunnie Kahle unique. It's also what had her removed from Timberlake Christian School. Her grandparents pulled the plug on her time there after they said she was no longer welcome.
The family received a letter telling them that if their eight year old granddaughter didn't follow the school's "biblical standards," that she'd be refused enrollment next year. She's out and in public school now.
Sunnie Kahle has short hair and a huge heart, and as far as her grandparents are concerned, she is a completely normal little girl.
"She cries every morning to get on the bus, she cries when she comes home because she wants to go back to Timberlake Christian with her friends," said Doris Thompson.

It sounds to me this is all over dress code violations, if the school has a dress code and the grandparents are violating it them’s the shakes kid.
Now if the school does not have a formal dress code, then maybe its time they make one. Though I suspect highly they have one on the books.
Yep. But the school still has a right to be idiotic.
Again, from what they said, they do have more. But they don't necessarily need it. If the child doesn't want to conform to the school's dress code, and the grandparents don't have the stones to insist on it---"How can we do that?"---then she needs to find another school.
It's not a personal attack, though the grandparents chose to characterize it as such. Unless you think all dress code and other disciplinary infractions should be ignored because the students are all little girls and boys.
The Pharisees have spoken.
I agree, where in the bible has a statement of what is the right clothes. The only thing about the bible about clothing is ‘fig leaves’, so should the Timberlake Christian School’s dress code be fig leaves?
You can’t mix two types of cloth according to Leviticus.
That it does.
I would have to agree that the child should not attend this school any longer. All I can say for sure is that it is not a good fit for her. Time will tell if their concerns are founded or not.
I guess “Christian values” are whatever a Christian private school says they are.
I went to prep school, and we had a dress code. None of us had any problem with it. But if you continued to violate it after being warned, then you’d be in trouble.
No, I have no trouble with short hair as such. But I do have trouble with kids who refuse to follow the rules, and parents who encourage them in their refusal.
Don’t like the rules? Then change schools. But don’t go whining to the press about it.
Dress code:

The school did not kick her out, her grandparents pulled her out, probably smelling lawsuit
She is just a little girl-what is wrong with that school? I would be concerned that she is too young to be that plump, but that has nothing to do with the school, her hair or her clothing. Can’t the grandparents find a private school that requires uniforms to send the child to? I hate to see her go to a public indoctrination school where she won’t learn anything good...
But it is a private school, and if the school has a dress code, I’m sure the grandparents were aware-if not, they should have been-but that is not stated.
I was a tomboy, I went to private school, my best friends were, and are guys, and I work in construction-and I’m not a lesbian. Somebody is being paranoid at that school...
And the boys showers
Yes, that's right.
Maybe the school tried to help and this offended them
A dress code is wrong?
The school did not kick her out
I think you are right. Why would the g-parents go to the local news station to complain? That is weird in itself outside of the fact that they dress and present their g-daughter like a boy.
She was not expelled
