We want, but can’t risk financial problems.

If I were a lazy @ss with no assets or responsibility I could have several on the dole.

All life is risk. Anything can happen at anytime. Those that decide to wait until they can afford to have children, have no children.

Like I said, you always find a way. It is a matter of priorities and children are not one of your priorities. There is nothing wrong with that on the micro level. It is when that type of fearful attitude takes hold on the macro level that we have a societal problem.

Right now our society has a problem. We have dipped below replacement levels for several years and more and more people are getting older and as the age they get sicker. They are the ones that will require more youthful people to pay for their future expenses.

That is the entire point of the article and the entire reason why healthy societies are growing societies. Europe, Russia, Japan and the United States are no longer demographically healthy societies.
