I’ll take something from anyone who names his “ministry” after himself with a grain of salt.
That said, sorry to hear the owner of chik-fil-a is only human.
If I were to take the mark of the beast it will be a bullet hole.
Here is a related article written by a former Pastor.
This week, Dan Cathy took it all back by saying His stand for God was a business mistake. (After all, one cannot serve both God and Mammon: Matthew 6:24)
I read this as a "Dan Cathy, private citizen" vs "Dan the Chick-Fil-A CEO" issue. From The Gospel Herald interview:
"The bottom line is we have a responsibility here to keep the whole of the organization in mind, and it has to take precedence over the personal expression and opinion on social issues," Cathy said.He called his statements and then what occurred afterwards a learning experience. Although he now sees error in some of the choices he made, he hopes to learn from them. He said that didn't meant the Christian beliefs his father Truett Cathy built the business on were changing.
"You learn from those mistakes." he said. "If not, you're just a fool. I'm thankful that I lived through it and I learned a lot from it."
“Only human” will take the mark of the Beast.
what a lame excuse.
Is there a link anywhere to see exactly what Cathy said and the context he said it in?
“I am convinced that God is using the homosexual issue as a test of believers all over the world. Its like the stress test the central bankers are using to forecast which banks would fail in the event of an economic collapse. Except in this case God is testing us for what we will do in the coming moral and spiritual collapse.”
I’m convinced this Scott guy doesn’t have standing to question Dan Cathy’s faith, business practices or anything else. Satan is active on many fronts.
This whole brouhaha was over comments he made as a private citizen. Anyway, how in the world can you completely separate the fact that private citizen is the CEO of a high-profile company? Take a pseudonym to go incognito? Post to blogs under an anonymous screen name? How?
Be assured that this simply means that Cathy won't be commenting about his beliefs "as a CEO of Chick-fil-A" OR "as a private citizen."
We’re all sinners. Not one of us is perfect except for Jesus Christ.
Jesus died for that excuse.
you get prosecuted by the full force of the federal government and I grant you my conservative imprimatur to lie to the government to get past this administration.
the darkness is the blind who see things in black and white and hold peoples businesses hostage by support or boycott but do not take one cent out of their pocket in helping those (like Chik-fil-A) who are trying to fight the good fight.
This week, Dan Cathy took it all back by saying His stand for God was a business mistake.
He could have said that to the person who only cares about his business, it would have been perceived as a business mistake.
I need the quote and context before I’ll even entertain the idea of passing judgement on this guy.
Exactly. The original Cathy comment that caused the kerfuffle was made in an Baptist magazine so obscure that I, a Baptist, had not heard of it. It was blown way out of proportion by people with an agenda, which could very well be what this is.
It sucks to be rich. Christ said it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of GOD. Thank GOD I am not one of the rich. Pray for him, we have all fallen short.
What is more concerning to me is this blog pimp attacking a believer based solely on the article itself and condemning them without the guts to ask Cathy face to face. No where have I read that Cathy has changed any of his beliefs or positions on the issue but only that he has learned from the process and would do some things differently for the sake of his company. Again, so what?
Why are we so quick to throw our brothers and sisters under the bus? In this case, I think it is purely for self edification and “Scott Lively Ministries” is less of a ministry and more of a gossip column than the bearer of truth and the Good News.
“Suggests”
“might be willing”
Pretty weasly writing. I don’t have broadcast television nor do I subscribe to a newspaper so I did not see or read any direct quote that are in this blog article. Is there any other quote that says he rejects the Biblical teachings and has embraced the homosexual agenda? All I see is a truthful statement that applies to our day and age:
“His stand for God was a business mistake.”
Next the writing makes leaps into suggesting that next this man will have pro gay commercials to boost business. Is this true or just the writers closeted wish? I read a bit about Scott Lively’s life and it is quite a story. That being said I always take self proclaimed preachers with a grain of salt. They tend to latch onto a controversial topic and ride it for all the fame and money they can bilk out of it.
But maybe I’m wrong and the Chic Fillet guy has had a complete change of heart and is full tilt pro gay now. I just don’t find anything that even “suggests” that in this screed.
Is Chic Fillet on the stock market? Is this man CEO or owner?
Satan comes at you from every direction. I hope when my trial of temptation comes I can be strong.
As a private corporation Dan and the organization have a hell of a lot more leway to espouse their beliefs over a company beholden to shareholders. They could face a discriminatory lending environment from it, but if they are well run and remain debt free they could toe the line and leave the hell bound to their self defeating ways.
Thank you.
Until I hear otherwise I say it's just someone trying to promote himself by stirring up a hsit-storm that hurts someone else.
A really Christian thing to do, isn't it? /s
(I don't eat at chickfila, if it matters.)
Same sex marriage is ultimately a political issue. The problem will come when the state forces it on the church. And they will.
