As Russia’s stranglehold on Crimea tightens, the Ukrainian province to the north is warning it could make life on the peninsula miserable if the coveted region chooses sides with Moscow in Sunday's referendum.
Pro-Moscow officials in Crimea, who favor secession from Ukraine, have said they will seize all utilities and assets owned by the Kiev-based Ukrainian government if the referendum goes as expected. But Crimea's electricity, freshwater and natural gas all flows in from the province of Kherson, where leaders warn they will shut everything off if the referendum they say is illegitimate, goes forward.
Last week, Kherson’s regional legislature overwhelmingly passed a motion supporting the preservation of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

No water, no electricity for Crimea will be answered by no nat gas for the rest of the Ukraine and less forbearance for existing debts.
It’s not like the MidEast, where water and electricity to Gaza is paid for by rocket fire.
Just another excuse for invasion being served up to the Russians on a silver platter by the current feckless leaders of the Ukraine.
The article is a week old so apparently they didn’t cut the electricity and water to the Crimea.
It was my understanding that the creation of electricity and the use of Natural gas and Oil was DESTROYING the Planet according to Europe and their member nations. So Why would any of this matter?? SHUT IT ALL DOWN NOW. Live the way you Preach to The rest of the world.

No natural gas for Crimea will be answered by no water and electricity for Crimea.
They had a bridge to mainland Russia as far as 1944. I think it is not hard to rebuild.

It’s not very often you can read an article stating that something may happen - and - have the answer as to whether it did or not. But since this article is about a week old - we already know that they did not do this.
Yeah, and when Auntie po’ed Master-Blaster ... “embargo on!” Ukraine better hope for a real mild Spring if they want to play that game with their energy supplier.
If Putey trie to turn off the Ukranians gas or invade the Ukraine they can and likely will start blowing up the pipeline that runs the breadth of the Ukraine. I don’t think the Russkies want that tragedy happening.
Well, that settles it, Ukraine is now lost to Putin.
I’m just pointing out that escalating tit-for-tat can easily lead to a lose-lose solution.

Putin will bomb Kiev and elsewhere if they do that. Thousands will die. Don’t forget we are dealing with a murdering psychopath here. Putin has no problem killing and/or jailing those who oppose him politically.

It won’t happen. Remember the Turks went public with their threat to close the Bosporus to all Russian shipping. That would crash their stock market. Block most of Russia’s grain shipments and if Turkey was attacked automatically involve NATO.
Putin’s smart enough not to overreach.
What you will see is that Putey will get the Crimea and there will again be two countries, Crimea and the Ukraine.
The sooner Putin and Russia is seen as monsters the sooner the world comes to grips with the problem.
