(CNN) -- It's been eight years since a black exotic dancer in Durham, North Carolina, accused three white Duke University lacrosse players of rape, sexual assault and kidnapping at a party. Whether you believe justice was adequately served -- without a trial, the North Carolina attorney general unilaterally declared the indicted players innocent -- one fact remains indisputable: A whole lot of underage drinking of beer and Jack Daniels was going on throughout much of that March day, badly impairing the judgment of the more than 40 man-boys in attendance.
According to a June 2006 study by Aaron White, then an assistant professor at the Duke University Medical Center, about 40% of college freshmen admitted they engaged in binge drinking: five or more drinks on one occasion. Some 20% of college freshmen admitted they drank even more: between 10 and 15 drinks per drinking session.

Your proposal is in violation of the Equal Protection clause.
One of the foundational principles of this country is all citizens are treated equally under the law.
“This is too easy.”
Easy my asparagus. Since when did drunk teenagers exercise restraint and responsibility simply because the law says you can’t drive at such-and-such an age?
Since when did any drunk teenager exercise restraint and responsibility.....at all?
A commander cannot override local laws. I guess what goes on inside the base stays inside the base.
I could get behind that — because making it yourself is pretty easy.
Michigan had a drinking age of 18 and I think every high school kid was an alcoholic.
No, what I said was, read it, the legal drinking age for the military is 18.
If the commander prefers, he can override that and raise it. He cannot override and lower.
That is how it is here. Restaurants/taverns can choose not to serve them, but it is all right to do so, as long as they are with a parent.
The Duke case would have been different, how?
Not one bit
The age of consent at 19 for sex and booze and stuff would be an interesting proposal
Ok, what is the legal drinking age for everyone else?
Drunkenness is different. I don’t equate drinking with drunk.
Kids around here drink one drink with the adults if they are over 12 or so, like they do in Germany and Italy, and as is legal, it is legal to do so in the privacy of one’s home.
They learn that drinking is not a mystery, they don’t see drunken adults, and they find drunken peers stupid, horrible and undesirable.
21
No, I don’t see why it was rolled back to 21.
Makes sense… public schools are prisons for those that have committed the crime of being born, yes?
“Researchers at the Center of Alcohol Studies at Rutgers University found that raising the drinking age to 21 simply shifted fatalities from those aged 18 to 20 to those aged 21 to 24. They concluded, on the basis of their exhaustive federally-funded study, that drinking experience, not drinking age, is the most important factor.
The researchers found that raising the drinking age was associated with fatality reductions of 5% among 18-20 year-olds at the expense of an 8% increase among 21-23 year-olds. “

See #41.
Wha?
I’m just sting the facts of the situation.
If you want to bring it to court, see a lawyer.
An 18 year old in the Army can walk into any bar and order a drink?
Hell, I have .08% in me when I don’t drink.
But of course no Women-Girls were exhibiting that behavior...
What kind of pussy was this writer anyway? Kids drink. It’s a right of passage. Who knew?
Maybe he should propose prohibition again... /s
The drunk driving thing is about become obsolete because of robot cars. However, drunk love-making with your pet robot will become the next “addiction”.
