The California State Assembly named its next leader Monday, electing Assemblywoman Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, to replace John Pérez later this spring. Atkins will become the 69th Speaker and second Democratic woman to lead the lower house. She is the first lesbian Speaker in the Assembly, which elected its first openly gay leader in Pérez four years ago.

New "normal"? Hardly.
New “normal” for the land of fruits and nuts maybe.
California recently voted twice to deny gays the right to legally marry.
The states population has enough wrong with it, but its public bureaucracy makes them look positively puritanical.
Now lesbian is a language too! This is really getting out of hand, we already cater to too many languages in California!
Is this now a prerequisite for public office in Daffy Duck Land? Sheesh, some people (people with morals and conservative views) continue to wallow in the squalor even where they are not wanted.Moral people should be abandoning CA, NY, CT, CO as fast as possible.
