MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry threw his support behind U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell on Saturday, telling 300 fellow Republicans that the minority leader will win re-election.

McConnell finds himself in a GOP primary fight with wealthy businessman Matt Bevin, who attended the event but wasn’t allowed to speak.

At the end of the day the hard truth is that most of the elected officials of both parties are noise machines who make up pretend differences when they are really cutting “bipartisan” deals behind our back.

He’s not running again so I’m not surprised. Not happy about it but not surprised.

Never trusted Perry and his look-like Romney speech at CPAC told me he was RINO toast. Do I get a Gold Star for predicting this?

Makes Cruz look like presidential material, doesn’t he?

Actually, I would posit that Rand Paul endorsed McConnell when there was a lot of speculation that McConnell might get a top-tier primary opponent, while Rick Perry is doing it when McConnell’s primary opponent has (let’s face it) turned out to be a dud. If I were McConnell, I would be far more grateful to Rand Paul for endorsing me early and helping me avoid a strong primary challenger than to Perry for jumping in at the eleventh hour after every primary poll has me ahead by 30%.

Been good South! Just tryin’ to hold the line against these America bashing surrender monkey give-ups that seem to be crawlin’ out of the woodwork recently. Now we have the Perry-istas slinkin’ back into play again. It never ends does it?

The only way to hurt the gopE is a third party. Until that happens they will ask the Tea Party conservatives “Who else are you gonna’ vote for?”

Indeed. Mitch McConnell has waged war against conservatives and half-wit Rick Perry endorses him? What will it take for Perrybots to realize their boy is NOT conservative as he is fighting against them?

On notice: Mitch McConnell is ready to “crush” the Tea Party

But if you say that we should not support Mitch who has been brought to Congress for no other reason than he’s been brought there as a lapdog, I dont think you have a heart. We need to be educating these RINOs, because they will become a drag on our party.

I find it interesting that the people who CLAIM to be Cruz backers can’t wait to get more RINOs in office to fight him.

Yup. That’s a conservative thing to do alright! And don’t you DARE question it!

Kelly Ayotte even endorsed Mitch. I seriously question Mitch McConnell’s political tactics. At least tell Ayotte not to show up.

Ayotte only has 12,000 likes on her campaign and Senate facebook pages. That is weak for a RINO superstar.

Later, after attending a round-table discussion with veterans, Ayotte endorsed Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., during a news conference at the Hilton Garden Inn.

“I’m very passionate about supporting Mitch McConnell because I know that he has the character, the integrity and cares truly about people and getting things done in the country,” she said.

It’s hard to argue there is anyone in the US Congress is more conservative than Ted Cruz. Therefore, anyone who opposes Ted does not support the conservative cause. But then, as we know from past debates, Perry supporters have their own definition of what it is to be conservative, i.e., pro-ILLEGAL alien, pro-Ghardasil mandate, etc.

So true. One could say it was a very liberal/Orwellian attempt to steer debate by redefining words. One could say that... because it’s the truth.

I used to think we were smarter than DU, Then I realized how infiltrated the conservative movement is. Mos of “us” aren’t really “us” at all. Some hide it better than others. But when you literally send people to DC to fight the one guy we can so far trust, it pretty much opens the closet door.

If Rand Paul runs and wins in 2016 for president, this could be a lead up for Bevin to take Rand’s seat in 2017 .

In other races there could be a strong showing in 2014, leading up to a a rematch with a generic RINO incumbent in 2016.

I thought Ann Coulter wanted to make Mitch look anti amnesty. How does Rand Paul, Kelly Ayotte and Rick Perry help him?

I’ve pretty much given up on sanity returning.

I've been shopping for a new tag line, thanks :)

Still doubters out there about Perry's RINOcity?

I must say - I'm disappointed, but not surprised.

Who cares? Bevin is not going to win, so it’s a smart political move.

Get real. The game has advanced far beyond the stage of 'smart politics'. We're damn near on the cusp of CWII or the 2nd American Revolution.

It's a time for choosing, and Rick just showed you where he really stands.
