Any air defense unit that shot the plane down would get a lot of grief. However, I think it’s unlikely the Chinese shot it down, given that we’d know about it, since Uncle Sam keeps pretty close tabs on Chinese military installations and units.

I don’t know why Charlie Martins blog crap theories deserve to be posted outside the blogger forum just because they’re on a higher-grade blog site.

BS and speculation from a diet and exercise writer.

The red line is a plot of points equidistant from the satellite. Since there’s only one bird that connected, that’s all they can know - somewhere around that circle.

An alternative. No call for help suggests an inside job.

What if the pilot and/or copilot was carrying out a subtle act of terrorism against China in support of the Uighurs? Subtle implying disappearance, no buildings destroyed, no shouts of "Allah akbar!" Disappearance to the Indian Ocean to make the search area larger.

Still terrorism -- 2/3 of the passengers were Chinese so this would make ruling-class Chinese have second thoughts about travel. But not open enough terrorism to provoke Beijing into a major response against the Uighur population. In effect Beijing has Uighur hostages.

1. If they blew the cockpit door off that resulted in cabin decompression that eventually lead to a dead crew and passangers, then the hijackers would have been seriously pre-occupied and likely didn’t have time to turn all the transponders off.

2. The search planes should be equipped with a dummy Cell Phone tower equipment and go around looking for roaming cells.

3. Is it at all possible that the actual black boxes on the plane were disabled prior to takeoff?

There is an onboard flight telemetry system that kept transmitting for a long time, as much as seven hours.

It seems as if Charlie forgot to take this statement of his into consideration re his theory along with the fact that over 100 of those onboard were Chinese citizens.

The US does an incredible amount of signals intelligence on China. Even if the discussions between the ground controllers and aricraft were encrypted rather than transmitted in the clear there would be a noticable spike in them and out sigint satellites would be able to determine the location.

Analysis pointing circumstantially to a shootdown scenario wouldn’t be too difficult. Once the Crays in the basement of Ft Meade got to work on the encryption (and we’re probably not talking about that difficult encryption to break here) the analysis would soon point to probable ...

Seems very plausible to me. Countries in general do not like rogue, unidentified aircraft cruising through their airspace.

India also a likely suspect to shoot it down, as they would have suspected Pakistanis with trying to target them.

If that happened, and most of the casualties were ChiCom, it would create a potentially serious situation in the region. And hence much incentive for a cover-up.

I’m curious to know if a pilot can do anything which would cause the passenger cabin to lose oxygen. Doing that would prevent the passengers from trying to re-take the jet.

"One of our planes is missing. That’s basically all we know for certain right now," At least you got one thing right. What is your purpose? Don't you have anything better to do than speculate and concoct additional unfounded rumors which just muddy the waters (pun not intended) and may actually divert attention from where it need be applied.

"Here’s some things we do know now." And just who is the "we" to which you refer?

" ...suggestive bits of information...." Which are not even close to facts.

".... They now think..." Who are "they" to which you refer? "... might..." As Elvis and Bigfoot might be living in the same cave?

" It’s very difficult to......" Yes, and it's very difficult to reach the moon, but.....

"....strong indication...." More than moderate indication, but less than absolute?

" So, now is the part of Malay Mystery in which we speculate." Most everything that you have conjured is pure speculation so from this point forward it is labeled as such?

" As far as I can see, there are about four possible explanations." Only four? A rank amateur could come up with at least a dozen.

" First, something happened." No kidding?

" So, let’s imagine." How distant is imagining from delusional?

" Second, someone who knew the plane hijacked or diverted the flight." Just how long did it take you to recognize the obvious?

".... Now, this hypothetical hijacker..." So the guy is not an actual hijacker?

" ....could have...." Should have, would have, might have, etc. Really?

".... So possibility...." Not probably? What is the inferred statistical probability based upon an adequate quantity of sound data and or experience?

"....which is what you'd expect....." Who is you and why?

" ...could have...", "...possibility...", "...seems to me...", "...seems unlikely...", "...I think...", "... this option...", ad nauseum".

"... putting on our fiction-writing hats..." Why didn't you advise others at the beginning of your post?

So far I've probably had about as much fun with my nonsense as you had with yours. But it is becoming a bore so I will leave and go do something meaningful.

P.S. A Tom Clancy you are not. Not even a contender, but a great pretended.

A transponder is a device that transmits a response. In a plane, the transponder is receiving an interrogation and responding by transmitting a burst of data.

The military version of that is called IFF IIRC- Identification Friend or Foe. But then I'm an ol' Squid, whaddo I know?

Are there any areas of that plane a person can hide in before takeoff, such as the cargo hold or overhead luggage compartment, or even the pilot's rest room?

The facts all point to an intentional act. The pilot's wife moving out one day prior points to his possible state of mind and he might have felt he had nothing to live for with his children taken away by his wife, OR....

Are we sure his wife and 3 kids MOVED OUT, or were they KIDNAPPED BY TERRORISTS who ordered Zaharie to fly somewhere or else they'd all be killed???? Would Malaysia talk about this??? Probably NOT, for fear of jeopardizing the wife and kids' lives.

I truly wish there was this much concern about what happened when the Pentagon was hit or when Bldg 7 fell. Everyone appears to have their priorities in the wrong order. We’re losing America and everyone is worried about an foreign airliner full of Chinese.

Just my opinion, worth what you paid for it.
