I expressed this admittedly out-there theory on another thread: Quarantine? If those passengers had been exposed to some awful disease, what would authorities do? Hide the plane and wait out the incubation period?

If terrorists exposed the passengers to something awful, why not? Then they take off with whatever they wanted on the plane.

I know it's a crazy thought....no crazier than a plane just disappearing for this long, though.

One still wonders (me) regarding how elaborate or sophisticated was that simulator in the pilot’s home. Location points of radar? Where to fly to avoid radar? How sophisticated was that simulator and is it true the pilot’s family left the home nearly 24 hours prior to this flight? Not too many question but maybe are two or three too many for answers.

Doesn’t explain the shutdown of numerous communications systems. Some apparently involved finding a labeled and secret unlabeled circuit breaker under the flight deck.
