KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- The search for the missing Malaysian jetliner expanded east and west on Friday after American officials said it was emitting signals to satellites for hours after its last contact with air traffic control nearly a week ago over the South China Sea.
Malaysian officials insisted that investigators had yet to reach a definitive conclusion on what radar and satellite data showed, and said the search was being expanded because efforts in current areas have not found any wreckage from the Boeing 777.
The possibility that the plane, carrying 239 people, flew many hundreds of miles (kilometers) beyond its last known location without any contact with the ground has strengthened speculation that its transponders and other communication devices were turned off deliberately.

That plane is on planet Zoreon. They made a mistake, they were told that a lot of Zoreons were on that plane, but, these people on that plane, were actually Goreons. Now they can suffer because of that mistake.

I’m am going to go out on a limb again and say the following.
This aircraft is going to be used in a major terrorist op against the US before the November 2014 elections in order to save the Dems’ butts.
They could declare martial law, suspend habeus corpus, suspend elections indefinitely, etc.
OTOH, if the Dems played it right they could become the heroes of the hour by going after the bad guys. Then they lock in a popularity not seen in a very long time which translates into votes in November.
Generally speaking.... How the hell does a 777 just go missing? I know we are all into the speculation. But I had to ask myself, what is the real fascination with this story? Why am I interested? A plane crash in itself is news but not necessarily worthy of the attention this is getting.
So I have honestly concluded that the fascination in longer about a potential plane crash. But rather, a huge and obvious flying object that can hardly be conspicuous cannot be found. With all the technology we have today, humans on this planet cannot find an airplane and don’t even know where to look. I understand the attraction to follow the mystery.

Anybody consider that Farrakhan’s Mother Ship could have sucked them up? It disturbs me that we are supposed to be able to track MISSILES in the air, but no one could see this plane. Whatever happened, they aren’t coming back. Let it be a lesson- stay OUT of Muslim countries and NEVER get on a jet with Muslim pilots. I feel sorry for any non-Muslims aboard, but less Muslims on the planet is always a good thing.

Inmarsat, the £3bn satellite company, registered “routine, automated signals” from MH370 on its network, the company said in a brief statement on its website.
The statement does not mention for how long the signals were received or when they stopped.

That plane is in Somalia and being prepped for an attack against Israel.
I think the up-link from the engines was an oversight.Once it was figured out that was happening someone shut it down.
The Iranians have stated in the past that they need to get the US out of the way before they attack Israel.
Assuming it's possible for the plane to be taken, shouldn't I be less concerned now than I should've been for the few days after the plane disappeared? Now, there's going to be scrutiny. It will be harder to fly such a large rogue airplane.

You’ve accurately nailed *exactly* what I’ve been thinking. We’re so technologically “connected” to the world today and so used to being able to find information at the click of a button; it’s unnerving that a plane and 200+ people could seemingly vanish without a trace. A mystery indeed.
I’m not so sure the engine uplink was shut down. I think they continued all the way to Somalia and we’re not being told about it.
Unless that aircraft is disguised both visually and electronically to look like another 777.
