"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldnt make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan |

Always important to kill off the conservative competition to the GOP elite before the primaries even happen.

The only Senator I see with immediate POTUS potential is Cruz, because he has a tremendous track record pre-Senate that prepared him. He’s been before the Supreme Court for one thing, and has the skill set to prepare him for the position and the campaign. Rubio is damaged and showed he’s not yet ready for that level of politics, despite a brilliant 2010 campaign and largely strong positions (immigration being the glaring exception). I like about 80% of Rand Paul, but this shows he is not reliable enough for the presidency at this stage. I am a libertarian-leaning conservative like many here and like Reagan. With Paul there is just too much question about his international views and his readiness.

My but you're getting an early start on your
'Destroy a Republican to Get Hillary Elected!' crusade!
I can't blame ya, though, pal, it looks like so much fun. This same plan worked sooo well in 2012 to assure that 0bama was re-elected.
You DNC operatives are getting really clever!

But when reduced to its essence, Rand Paul is a huckster out of his depth. Like his father his main objective is to parlay his mailing list into an income stream. Good article!
The biggest difference between Rand Paul and Ron Paul is that Rand doesn't have his father's removable eyebrows.
The media was all aflutter over Rand winning the CPAC straw poll, just as his father always did. It serves to advance their fictional narrative that real conservative contenders, like Ted Cruz, aren't the true frontrunners.

I have no intention of getting drawn into any battle between the supporters of Senator Cruz & Senator Paul. This increasingly evident folly may very well damage our chances of electing a Conservative President in 2016, if there is even an election that year.
What you describe as "Flip Flops" are more instances of a new Senator trying to come to grips with a multi-faceted issue. Frankly, I think that he probably should have taken more time to state any opinion of the matter. But to the extent that he is actually advocating any specific action--and I am not sure that he is (which lack of specificity, I suppose, helps make your point)--it is well that he realizes some of the limitations on what we should do. Certainly expecting Europe to pay for its own defense is a good thing, not a bad thing.
The place to start in analyzing American foreign policy, now as at all times since 1796, should be with Washington's Farewell Address. It was never pacifistic, never isolationist, but showed a profound understanding both of the concept of nations, and the human psychology that so often leads nations into folly.
Washington's Farewell Address Truly wisdom for the ages.

Why are you trying so hard to split Republican opposition to Obama’s unAmerican activites BEFORE the 2014 elections?
Obama wants to divide us Patriots so can he “conquer” us.
What’s your excuse?

He is a throwback to the America Firsters who still blame FDR for getting rid of perfectly benign regimes in Germany and Japan. This is no exaggeration.
No exaggeration? A lot of those America Firsters (or sympathizers) like John Kennedy and Gerald Ford didn't share such views after Pearl Harbor.
If the link to a Greek playboy who doesn't even mention Hitler is supposed to back up some argument, it doesn't.
