Interesting discussions and photos of varying rock types encountered on Mars to date.
Pinging for your list. Thanks.
I wanna see where the astronauts put the ‘merican flag....Sheila say it’s there! </s>
Gee it looks like a vision from mac daddies dream as to what he wants America to look like.
No, even Sheila knows that the Mars landing was faked, and the flag had only 12 stars then. But there are pyramids, a giant face (of Elvis), a bigfoot creature, bunny rabbits, and jelly-filled doughnuts disguised as rocks (or is that the other way around?). Probably some underground cities too.
Poll: Should Naming Places on Other Planets Be Open to the Public?

I say yes with reservations to avoid stupid names like “Bunghole crater”. The public pays for it and should have some say.
In their example of conglomerates the author states that wind is not strong enough to pick up pebbles over one centimeter in diameter and carry them along in the current. That may be true on Earth but the gravity on Mars is only 38% as much as Earth. Would it still be too heavy for a pebble to be moved under those conditions?
C’mon!!!! BUNNY RABBITS!
Don’t mean to yell, but they taste pretty good fried w/gravy;-)
Thanks onedoug. Extra to APoD.
Soft rock
Hard rock
Adult contemporary...
Progressive rock?
Art rock?
Possibly. What I think is very interesting though is the degree of rounding on the pieces making up the conglomerate. These would have to have been eroded in a flowing fluvial or marine environment. Those shales are equally as interesting. Each of their features would be excellent staring places to look for microfossils. But that takes humans to make value judgments. And that seems like a long time coming. But to find those features therein would be the greatest discovery of all time.
I chipped a tooth on a bubblegum rock.
