SEAN HANNITY: You're really taking on a lot of issues. One of them is outreach, the second one is the NSA, the third going after the president. Do you agree with Ted Cruz when he said Rand and I are good friends. Do you agree with that statement?
SEN. RAND PAUL: We always have been good friends. I'm not real excited about him mischaracterizing my views and, you know, I won't let that pass. I think that, you know, sometimes people want to stand up and say, 'Hey, look at me, I'm the next Ronald Reagan.' Well, almost all of us in the Republican party are big fans of Ronald Reagan. I was a 13-year-old kid when my dad was a delegate for Reagan, I was there in Kansas City. I've always been a big fan of peace through strength.
I think America should and has a responsibility around the world and really, virtually all the opinions that have been coming from Republicans are somewhat the same on this. That Putin should be condemned. He should be isolated. I favor sanctions against Putin. So, for people to characterize that as somehow not being the Reagan position, I think they need to have a re-reading of Reagan, frankly. Reagan was famous for --

Oh, poor form Randy.
You’ve got to be kidding.
So, legalized pot, etc. Why the heck are there so many teenagers there? Why would all of these solid speakers come to address a room that is 1/3 teenagers?
We always have been good friends. I'm not real excited about him mischaracterizing my views and, you know, I won't let that pass.
So, what's inappropriate is for people -- particularly other Republicans -- to mischaracterize, or attempt to characterize my foreign policy as something it isn't.
They're more than welcome to have their own, but they need to be a little wary of trying to mischaracterize mine.
Reagan was big on was the 11th commandment. Our party gets bigger if we try to include more people in it and not be so divisive.
In all but the last quote (most quit thinking when the word "Reagan" is said), I say the same things arguing with family. Personally, I'd like to see both stay in the Senate and fix that place.
The GOP are doing everything they can to throw the election the dems.
I have a funny feeling the dems will own the house next year
No, it's your claim so it's your homework. Coming from Chicago, maybe you aren't aware of that. So let's see some links to YOUR lunatic contentions.
Beware!

Rand Paul RIPS Ted Cruz
[begin Republican self-destruct phase of campaign]
Listening to her om David Webb now.
She’s hotter than ever.
I don’t much care for Rand Paul, and primarily it IS because IMO he doesn’t fall that far from the tree.
I lack trust in his word.
Ok ,I now its hard to be smarter than a 5th grader so I will start you off, because I feel sorry for you
“Paulites” streaming into the main auditorium to hear him rail against government overreach and neoconservativism on Friday afternoon. In many respects, his win in the CPAC poll seemed pre-ordained — his band of followers having a well-earned reputation for flooding polls and forums like these.
What it portends for a possible 2012 presidential run is anyone’s guess. Paul had a similar cult-like following during the 2008 election, only to garner a relatively small chunk of the actual vote.

No Go to sleep it’s past your bedtime.
Well, I read on FR that Cruz isn’t eligible to be POTUS anyway...
There’s no ripping going on here. This is tame.
I see nothing wrong with what he said.

Agree 100%. Cruz ripped at Rand Paul more than Paul did Cruz.
And, personally, I believe Paul would be a great choice. He’s a better speaker than Cruz. Cruz’s voice quickly wears on me. I’ll be happy to support either of them if they’re at the top of the ticket.
Of the two, Senator Cruz is the better speaker, much more intelligent, and frankly, much more principled.
That’s just your opinion. I’ve got one too.
Cruz is a smarter politician, but I appreciate Paul’s concern about being differentiated from Reagan. Of course Paul didn’t help himself with his “stuck in the cold war” reference.
They’re both getting air time which I think is good.
Here, you can see how meaningful it is.

Rand Paul’s take on immigration.
http://www.paul.senate.gov/?p=issue&id=12
“I do not support amnesty, I support legal immigration and recognize that the country has been enriched by those who seek the freedom to make a life for themselves. However, millions of illegal immigrants are crossing our border without our knowledge and causing a clear threat to our national security. I want to work in the Senate to secure our border immediately. In addition, I support the creation of a border fence and increased border patrol capabilities.
Immigrants should meet the current requirements, which should be enforced and updated. I realize that subsidizing something creates more of it, and do not think the taxpayer should be forced to pay for welfare, medical care and other expenses for illegal immigrants. Once the subsidies for illegal immigration are removed, the problem will likely become far less common.
I support local solutions to illegal immigration as protected by the 10th amendment. I support making English the official language of all documents and contracts.
Millions crossing our border without our knowledge constitutes a clear threat to our nation’s security. Instead of closing military bases at home and renting space in Europe, I am open to the construction of bases to protect our border.”
