My guess and speculation,

since both pilots were muslim, I wonder if that is why there was ‘no word’ on what happened and the plane landed elsewhere. Seems ‘someone’ would know that but....seems someone should know if it plummeted into the sea as well.

My take. It was hijacked and flown to some airfield in Iran or Pakistan, the passengers have been removed and either imprisoned or killed and the plane is currently being filled with explosives so that it can be flown into some target city a few weeks from now.
