PETALING JAYA: The two imposters who travelled on MH370 early Saturday reportedly used stolen Italian and Austrian passports to purchase tickets together.
The tickets were bought from MAS code sharing partner China Southern Airlines in Thai baht at identical prices, CNN quoted China's official e-ticket verification system Travelsky.
The ticket numbers are contiguous, which indicates the tickets were issued together,.
According to CNN, the tickets were booked to start in Kuala Lumpur, then to Beijing, and onward to Amsterdam. The Italian passport's ticket continues to Copenhagen, the Austrian's to Frankfurt.
Authorities say they are investigating the identities of some of those on board who appear to have issues with their passports.
Italy and Austria have said that none of their citizens were on board the plane. And officials say the Italian and Austrian whose names were on the passenger manifest both had their passports stolen in Southeast Asia in recent years.
Well, that seems to further the terrorism theories.
This may be a dumb question but, are we to assume whoever stole them and used them ( if they were terrorists) probably look like the theft victims? Or did they probably switch the photos?
How soon until we find out that one of the passport holders was recently released from Gitmo??
OH WAIT..
You will NEVER see that on non-Fox US TV.
It will get worse, especially with the castration of America by the touchy feely libs in this admin
This is exactly what I was wondering last night, if the two guys sat together, guess now we know..this is looking more and more like terrorism but where the heck is the plane
>The ticket numbers are contiguous
consecutive
Jeez
they did say both of the men whose passports were stolen were average height, average weight and wore glasses
Right.
They should’ve criss-crossed that whole area by now.
WHY CAN THEY NOT FIND THE PING??
Did it get disabled??
In my mind, it seems to remove any further doubts.
“How soon until we find out that one of the passport holders was recently released from Gitmo??”
Could be why Obama has not used this crisis for a photo-op, yet.
I did SAR/uscg for years. The ocean gobbles shit up real quick
right, but the Pinger transmits 200 miles I read.
It should not take this long.
why would they have booked so many further stops? That makes no sense. more like 2 drug runners or some other illicit activity traveling on stolen passports together at the start with many transactions in other cities.
“are we to assume whoever stole them and used them ( if they were terrorists) probably look like the theft victims?”
I suppose you could switch the photos, but you’d still have to be plausible with the name. I’m sure not all italians and austrians are white, but most of them are. I also read that both men (whose passports were stolen) are of average height and weight and both wear glasses, so I take it there is some written description in the passport itself.
How come those b*st*rds aren't ever flying on planes that "disappear"? I'd personally buy tickets for a whole bunch of them!
Here’s another salient question (unanswered, so far). How did they pay for the tickets? Did they use credit or debit cards under the same names as the stolen passports, under different names, or were these cash purchases?
However it happened, there were obvious warning signs. A cash purchase is automatically flagged, particularly if its close to the departure date. If the names on the credit or debit card(s) matched those on the stolen passports that would indicate a fairly sophisticated operation.
On the other hand, if your passport was stolen, wouldn’t you notify your bank, credit card company and the credit bureaus, along with an identity protection service? If your passport is lost or stolen, the potential for identity theft is very high. Yet, there have been no reports of the passport theft victims taking additional steps beyond notifying their local embassy and obtaining replacement documents.
If I had to guess, I’d say the tickets were paid for with stolen credit cards, possibly in someone else’s name (plenty of folks who know how to do that), or with a corporate card belonging to some previously-unknown terrorist front company.
Overall, this looks like a very well-designed plot. The terrorists did their homework and exploited gaps in the ticketing, passenger screening and airport security processes. It will be interesting to see how much of the plot was an inside job, with certain individuals conveniently looking the other way.
And I read on another thread how one of the victims family members called her brother on his cell phone and it just rings and rings..can a cell phone ring when its underwater? Never thought even to ask that before I Just assume that it would ring til the battery dies..and from what I understand that area the water is not deep, fisherman are known to fish in that area so the water is pretty shallow how come they cant just put sonar and find the wreckage
According to a CNN report(Yeah for a brief moment I went to the dark side and switched channels) they said the tickets were purchased with Thai currency
I think many of your assumptions would be valid here or in Europe. I sure don’t know about Malaysia. I do know it’s 3rd world and who knows what baggage handles or food service people can sneak onto a plane? It certainly seems like terror with the way it disappeared but there must be a great many ways it could have been enacted from there.
