Louis Maraldi, 37, from Cesena, was named as one of the passengers on board the plane.
However, reports in Italy have confirmed that he was NOT on board and that he had reported his passport stolen last August.

You can take the inexperience out of that. The 55 year old captain on board had more than 18,000 hours flight time.
this
Maybe one of the Muslim pilots decided to off himself....in the name of Allah. Obammy may get NASA on this and order flags at half staff.
A SECOND man listed as on board that flight, Austrian Christan Kozel, aged 30, has been confirmed as safe and well by authorities.
He said his passport was stolen when he visited Thailand two years ago, Austrian newspaper De Standard reports.
Any idea which tracking website this might be?
An unconfirmed report on a flight tracking website said the aircraft had plunged 650ft and changed course shortly before all contact was lost.
EgyptAir Flight 990
The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) recorded the Captain excusing himself to go to the lavatory, followed thirty seconds later by the First Officer saying in Egyptian Arabic Tawkalt ala Allah, which translates to I rely on God. A minute later, the autopilot was disengaged, immediately followed by the First Officer again saying, I rely on God. Three seconds later, the throttles for both engines were reduced to idle, and both elevators were moved three degrees nose down. The First Officer repeated I rely on God seven more times before the Captain suddenly asked repeatedly, Whats happening, whats happening? The flight data recorder reflected that the elevators then moved into a split condition, with the left elevator up and the right elevator down, a condition which is expected to result when the two control columns are subjected to at least 50 pounds (23 kg) of opposing force.[1] At this point, both engines were shut down by moving the start levers from run to cutoff. The Captain asked, What is this? What is this? Did you shut the engines?

“Back when that TWA flight went down in Long Island Sound, it was still in the days when the gov didn’t want to worry us about the possibility that it was terrorism by one of those very nice Eygptian pilots.”
Isn’t that the one where one of the pilots deliberately made the plane nosedive yelling “Allahu Akhbar”, while the other pilot kept telling him to “pull up” to stabilize the plane — which was never classified as terrorism, despite the clear evidence. It was also premeditated, I recall the suicidal terrorist pilot sent presents to his kids via another pilot on another airplane, he knew he wasn’t going home himself.
Here’s another angle that’s being ignored...last year, Boeing directed operators of its various jets to replace Honeywell Emergency Locator Transponders on their aircraft. The models involved included the 777-200. A Honeywell transponder on a 787 owned by Ethiopian Airlines caught fire on the ground in London and heavily damaged the aircraft.
Not sure if an ELT fire would be enough to produce a catastrophic failure in a 777, but it might explain why there have been no reports of an ELT signal from the crash site. Of course, most of the nit-wits in the media aren’t even aware that jetliners are outfitted with ELTs, but their various “experts” are. You’d also think they would mention the recent problem with the ELTs on Boeing jets.
Yes, still missing
Better source of information would be the data messages automatically transmitted by modern airliners to their operator’s maintenance base. The Air France Airbus that went down over the south Atlantic was transmitting automatic updates almost until the moment it hit the water. Those messages are already in the database...naturally, the Malaysian airline is not discussing them.
thanks for the info
I first saw this story and thought “Hmmmm”, wondered if a missing “Malaysia-to-Beijing” flight had any connection to the China Kunming railway station ‘terror attack’, came here looking for the post.
Why am I not surprised...
(now confirmed to have crashed)
Thanks nuconvert.

What about his co-pilot?
ELT’s do not transmit from under water.
I thought that was labeled 'workplace violence', too... /s
Here we go. The terrorism angle we will all be talking about tomorrow...unless they cover it up again as they did TWA 800.
It's not what the news agencies report, it's what they deliberately conceal that tells the real story.

Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
That possible connection went thru my mind and the minds of others. Stay tuned ......
