Vladimir Putin has mocked diplomatic efforts to end the Ukraine crisis as Russia threatened to disrupt European gas supplies by cutting off sales to Kiev over its unpaid debts.
The Russian president said through his official spokesman that, despite deep disagreements with the West, he did not want a confrontation over Ukraine to spiral into a “new cold war”.
Nevertheless Dmitry Peskov ridiculed Western demands for direct talks between the Kremlin and the new Kiev government, claiming that the loss of credibility involved “puts a smile on our face”.
The remarks were broadcast during the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, where the Ukrainian athlete carrying her national flag was given a loud cheer.

Short and to the point. I get the feeling that Putin is amused by the marxist idiot in the White House.
Nothings settled until it’s settled....this is the crazy time with lots of drama and political standoffs and posturing.
I’m surprised that he didn’t say it in exactly that way. His contempt for Obama couldn’t be more clear, so why mince words?
If we had a real president, he would have foreseen the current crisis and already had a fleet of ships and a pipeline built to get fuel to our European allies.
If we had a real man as president, we would be supplying the Ukrainian freedom fighters with arms as well as training them, and we wold be massing our forces in eastern Europe ready to kick the commies back to where they belong.
No shooting yet that we know of. Georgia 2.0 or willing annexation of parts of eastern Crimea.

We had a real man as President; his name was George W. Bush. Say what you will about Bush’s domestic policies, but Vladimir Putin respected him.
Give him some credit. For 5 years, he’s prevented the building of a pipeline to get fuel to the U.S., from your N. American ally. That’s got to count for something.
