I would rather he was voted down for some other reason other than defending a cop killer. I haven’t been following the facts.
So what? Everybody is entitled to a legal defense. Either the best they can buy, or the best the state can provide or the best that just volunteer.
I don’t care if he killed 30 cops and ate all their livers with Fava Beans and a Chianti, we shouldn’t be taking this against the lawyer who was hired, appointed, volunteered or otherwise became the defense lawyer.
He wasn’t actually defending Abu-Jamal. The original conviction occurred in 1982. In 2009, Adegbile filed an amicus curiae brief with the United States Supreme Court in 2009, arguing that the conviction was invalid because of racial discrimination in jury selection.
The guy voluntarily went to bat for the cop killer. Nobody hired him if I remember correctly.
