A Milwaukee man was sentenced Tuesday to nine months in jail, with work-release privileges, for voting twice in the 2012 presidential election.
Prosecutors had asked the judge to sentence Leonard K. Brown, 56, to more than a year in prison, a harsher punishment than handed down in the few other cases of double voting.
"I'm shocked, to be honest, that the state thinks this is a prison case," defense attorney Christopher Hartley told Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Timothy Witkowiak. "It's outrageous."
Hartley said Brown is caught in the political debate over making voters show photo ID to vote, with one side trying to show that existing laws work to catch and punish illegal voters, and the other saying cases like Brown's illustrate the problem of voter fraud.
"This court is not the place to get involved these political considerations," Hartley said, adding that prison should be reserved for defendants who pose a danger to the community.
At first, Witkowiak seemed to follow Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf's recommendation, announcing 15 months in prison followed by 15 months of extended supervision. But Witkowiak suspended that sentence in favor of two years of probation. The jail time eight months for the three convictions related to the double voting in 2012, plus another month for four counts of voting from the wrong address in other elections is a condition of the probation. If Brown violates any of the probation requirements, he might have to serve the prison term.
Landgraf had recommended $1,200 in fines for the four lesser offenses, but Witkowiak said that, because they're going down as felony convictions, Brown already will have to pay a $250 DNA testing charge for each of the seven counts.

This is on the same leveas treason. Much worse than a even a mass shooting because your fraud affect millions of people not just the victims and a few of their relatives.
For argument’s sake lets just say Øbama was fraudulently elected (not a stretch I know) now the whole country has to live under the tyranny of Øbamacare.
