Rush is best for an analysis of the current political situation. Prager gives you good answers from the standpoint of the left/right divide. If you want to know whats going on with radical Islam you have to listen to Rusty Humphries. Unfortunately, he is only on stations here that have weak signals late nite. If you are up working or you just have insomnia, Red Eye Radio and Bill Bennett are superb listening.

I believe in some libertarian ideas, like smaller government and lower taxes, but their insistence on carrying that principle to allowing homosexual marriage, legalizing drugs, and gutting the military causes me to run from them completely. Destroying something as fundamental as the family is only going to create more social problems, and legalizing drugs with a welfare state is a disaster. Gutting the military in the face of threats from the likes of Putin and the Islamic threat is insanity. BTW, the libertarian position on open borders is ridiculous, and I can't abide their pro-abortion stance. In fact, when you get down to it, I can't see where Libertarians are much different than Democrats or your average country-club RINO.

Sorry, Rusty Humphries is one of my least favorite hosts. But I haven’t heard him in years. Maybe he’s improved.

Some of the things you cited are reasons why I am no longer libertarian. I decided that they over-simplified a lot of military and foreign policy issues. The world is different than in the days of the founding fathers. Then I saw some of the military adventures that are being flirted with in this administration...
The issue that really got me in the end is involuntary commitment of mental patients. Libertarians are afraid of abuses and that’s certainly valid, but there has to be a better way of doing mental health than we do it, in WA especially. This is the real reason for a lot of murder rampages, while people continue to argue about guns. There are a lot of less dramatic assaults and things that don’t make national news. The mental health system can be a nightmare for families.
I also discovered what I considered to be some pretty extreme character issues in a lot of libertarian leaders, stuff that bordered on criminal, or even was criminal. Maybe I am short in the character dept. myself, but I try to do the right thing. These people LOVE to feud, for one thing and they learned from the best, one of their idols, Ayn Rand. She was notoriously bad at interpersonal relationships.
