NATO warns Russia to cease and desist in Ukraine

The chorus of international voices urging caution in Ukraine, and above all urging Russia to refrain from military action, have been reinforced by NATO’s secretary general.

“Russia must stop its military activities and its threats. We support Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. We support the rights of the people of Ukraine to determine their own future without outside interference and we emphasise the need for Ukraine to continue to uphold the democratic rights of all people and ensure that minority rights are protected,” said Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

An overnight phone call between Presidents Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin has reportedly only served to underline fundamental differences of position.

This was reflected as well in an emergency session of the UN Security Council, where Russia maintained it was acting to protect its citizens despite the lack of evidence of any tangible threat. And remember, Russia may be talking to its international partners, but refuses direct talks with Kyiv.

Polish military vehicles on the way to Ukraine/Polish border. For what purpose, that’s a good guess. But they’re on the way for some reason.

If the Europeans aren't preparing to ship huge amounts of material aid to Ukraine, then they are sleeping at the switch. Given the way Germany insisted on refighting WWII in Yugoslavia, I think the odds of Germany not helping Ukraine are zero. We'll see. For Poland, this is an existential crisis - Ukraine's territorial is essential for Poland's national security. Do the Poles really believe Uncle Sam will fight to keep Poland free from its former Russian overlord? Just in case, it's better to have a unitary Ukraine, which can be had on the cheap by providing a equipment to Ukrainians willing to the pay the price for freedom.

I don’t think China would join any sanctions.

China might; they send us all that junk in Walmart.

Beside, the KGB men do not vacation in China, nor do they educate their kids there, they like Europe.

Flashback: Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia

The killings were directly linked with the policies of the Bandera faction of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and its military arm - Ukrainian Insurgent Army, whose goal specified at the Second Conference of the Stepan Bandera faction of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN-B) during 17–23 February 1943, or at least in March 1943 was to purge all non-Ukrainians from the future Ukrainian state. Not limiting their activities to the purging of Polish civilians, the UPA also wanted to erase all traces of sustained Polish presence in the area.

I have never watched American Idol, azz-wee-pay.
There is not one single or group of people
from the Ukraine, Russia, or Europe that
can put one single bean or potato on my table.

Yes, teacher.
So NATO wants to lecture Russia (non-NATO)
regarding their actions regarding the Ukraine (non-NATO).
Got it.

Right, but I was listing the countries with Russian minorities.

Speaking of which, Putin is on very thin ice here. Russian Federation is filled with enclaves that might follow the Crimean provocation model to demand their own independent states.

If Lviv/Lwow were threatened by the Russians, the Poles will move in first, I guarantee that.

unfortunatly we dont have the means anymore our military has gone gay, anti christian, pro moslem and has become so political it has forgotten how to kill people and break things, Besides our government is preoccupied in spying on us so that dont have a clue what to do. Mark this... Obamas legacy will include the dismantling of NATO.

Poles have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, they are well-trained and experienced. The Russians will meet their match in them.

Show me the contract.

The Budapest Memorandum is not indeed a ratified treaty, but it is a document signed by our President (well, by Clinton...) and the UK's Prime Minister, and Yeltsin. Without a ratification it is not enforceable. Nevertheless it is an obligation the US undertook. Do we really want to put the aftermath of the Cold War into question? Do we want to debase our diplomatic guarantee in general, and still call ourselves the leader of the free world?

Right. In this light, let us reflect on how noble Poland's behavior was supporting the Maidan and letting the WWII past remain in the past.

Seizing the oligarchs’ and the Duma millionaires’ assets would do wonders in that regard, too.

Of course Poland supports the Bandera Nazis. They don’t want them back in Poland/Galicia.

Putin is less a danger to the world than the current nominal resident of 1600 Penn. Ave.
