U.S. Believes Russian Forces Land in Ukraine (Fmr. Georgia Pres says Bush stopped Putin in 2008)
Out Front w/Erin Burnett CNN Transcripts ^ | February 28, 2014 | Mikheil Saakashvili

Posted on 03/01/2014 10:11:38 AM PST by Seizethecarp

MIKHEIL SAAKASHVILI, FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GEORGIA: No, I'm not surprised. Actually, Georgia was invaded by a large-scale Russian army. I was warning prior to the invasion. Georgia will come and then the new Ukraine will come. Putin is following his blueprint all the way through and actually coincidentally it happened both times during the times of the Olympic.

SAAKASHVILI: One thing should be known. In Georgia in 2008 after the reaction was quite late, Putin was stopped at the entrance of our capital by a huge unit who showed, but the international community outcry. George Bush sent four fleets. The initial planes were put on alert prepared for no fly zone over Georgia and that's what stopped Putin from a --

BURNETT: So that's what Obama is going to have to do.

SAAKASHVILI: There have been many different options he can consider. I'm not saying that's the situation for sure but certainly we should consider all of the options because U.S. security interests are at stake. If this war in Europe collapses now, the U.S. will be in trouble. The United States is one of the main guarantors and benefactors of this order that exists today in Europe and if it goes to hell, certainly American interests would be at great risk.

Note that CNN cut the part of this interview where Saakashvili credited Bush with stopping the Russian tanks from entering the Georgian capitol from the video clips they put up.

Obama is a sniveling brat child who was elected and then reelected by millions of millions of brat children. I think FLOTUS calls them “knuckle heads”.

‘Bush Stopped Putin in 2008’. This shows you why it is very important that world leaders respect our presidents.

Besides. Since Putin sent the Night Wolves, why can’t Obama send the Hells Angels... whoops, the Hells Angels are nonblack. That wouldn’t do.

One of the first things a President Cruz or Palin needs to do is call anyone from the Reagan foreign policy team that’s still breathing and beg them to come back to work.

We might be so desperate that we will have to dust of Henry Kissinger...if he’s still alive. Not that he could be any worse dead then what we have now.

Quite frankly, all an American president would need to do is send some ships, fly some jets and unite NATO to show the Soviet Union (currently referred to as Russia) that commies don’t mess with the US or its allies. The current boy-child, muslim, homosexual, marxist, coward in the White House does not know his ass from his elbow and has not a clue what to do. America has lost its standing in the world. We are a fat, government-dependent, lazy, slothful, ignorant mass of low-information voters who have no idea of history and what is happening under our noses. I pray for the people of Ukraine, the land that my ancestors fled from, and for the United States. We are so screwed.

Well the Russians better be scared because Emperor Zero can blot out the sun with his fleet of drones. (Quirky reference to the movie 300).

A show of force by Obama is pointless because they don’t respect him. This is not about our nation (although I agree with your assessment) or people - it’s about the leader of our foreign policy.

From a tactical standpoint there is little we could do in the Ukraine - we would be screwed logistically and Russia holds the major advantage on the map. Russia is not Iraq or Afghanistan - they are a major military power with global reach. Few Americans have the stomach for that fight over a nation few could find on a map and it would be financially disastrous beyond the costs in human lives. NATO participation will be tepid at best.

The real problem we face in Eastern Europe is our European allies. Based on their energy situation they have defacto allied themselves with Russia and there is little we can do about that. As long as Putin controls the flow of energy he will have enormous influence over Europe. Dear leader has also harmed our relationships with European allies far beyond the headlines of NSA spying. Europe views Obama much as we do - out of his depth, inconsistent, and not trustworthy.

Americans are tired of playing the role of world policeman and we can’t pay for it anymore nor do we want to borrow more for it. I love the Ukraine and it’s people, but this is not (nor will it likely be) a situation of genocide. Perhaps this is a genuine desire by two separate people within one border to choose their own side.

The best case scenario for the Ukraine (and many other situations like this) may be the creation of two states that better reflect the demographics of the region. That is my .02 and right now it appears possible. While some will find this solution as less than ideal it may cause the least harm to all involved. The Eurocentric part of the Ukraine only has to guarantee the security of the pipeline. Not difficult considering Europe will demand this as much as Russia.

I won’t be critical of them - we may eventually face the same solution here as our nation becomes more divided. Look at the efforts to break away from state capitals in the U.S. in places such as Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and California. Many of the arguments are based on similar reasons as the situation in the Ukraine minus the superpower struggle.

Exactly. Ukraine is going to have to give up The Crimea (which truly never should have been part of Ukraine), in order to gain true independence, which is freedom to join NATO/EU if they so desire.

Yea, but blowing up George Zimmerman probably won't significantly alter the course of events.

Well GW and Sarkozy flying to Moscow to tell Vlad that if he wants to play on the playground with the EU and other western nations he better think twice about it. Since Vlad wants to be a player and not be shunned by the West he thought about it and backed off.

So he settled for S Osettia. This time he will probably settle for Crimea.
